Pieces of the Rock
Quest for His Kingdom
Matthew 6:33
Parents,
We are continuing our wildcat essentials each week and this week's essential is: give back. There is a reason that we chose this essential before we got closer to Thanksgiving break. It is easy to give thanks and be moved to give back while around Thanksgiving. I know some families even have traditions of circling around the table and listing one thing they are thankful for or something similar. Organizations will often collect food or money for families in need, which we are doing ourselves here with the canned food drive. When we are urged to, we find it can be pretty easy and rewarding to be thankful and give back.

The push this time of year is often continuing that thankfulness and giving back throughout the year, not just during this holiday season. So what happens? Why do we not continue that all year long? I would venture out to say that for most of us, myself included, life happens. Huge events, games, meetings, struggles, conflict and our own sinful nature happen. When in challenging situations and rough or busy patches, it is easy to ‘circle the wagons’ as they say, and focus on ourselves and our own concerns and life.

I saw a post on Facebook about Philippians being known as one of the happiest books in the bible. Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi was written while he was in Rome in a jail. So how could one of the happiest books in the bible be written by someone who was in jail? It is because Paul realized something that we still struggle with today. As Christians our joy does not come from our circumstances, it comes from our heavenly father.

When we fully trust and understand that our eternal salvation has already been accomplished at the resurrection, that frees us to give back. Despite the circumstances that we find ourselves in here on earth we can find joy in giving back knowing that our sin and situations do not define us. The precious blood of Christ defines us as His own! Praise God that he brings us His word and sacraments that continue to refine us and wipe us clean. Have a great weekend!

In Him,

Chris Brune
Weekly Updates & Reminders
eLearning Night
Reminder that this coming Tuesday is our eLearning night at 7:00pm! This night is for parents and students as our teachers will walk you through how eLearning will look here at St. Peter’s. If possible bring the device your child would use for eLearning ie Tablet, phone, Laptop etc. Obviously if you have a desktop computer do not fret, we will have some devices available for use. That is one of the great things about google classroom, you are not device tied; it's in the cloud! So you could access assignments on an iPad and start there and finish later on a computer or vice versa. If you cannot make it that night please communicate with your child's teacher ASAP so they can help get you information. See you all Tuesday!
Canned Food Drive
Bags are coming home today with students as a reminder to send in canned and dry good food items for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. Mrs. Koenig will be working with students to create a CANstruction with these items before we deliver them to St. Peter's families in need. Watch for their display during Family & Friends Day!
Carline Overflow
If your family uses carline and the school side is full, please use the south church lot for the overflow line. Do not block Maysville Road. As you are pulling into carline, be aware of a possible line forming in the south lot. Please be conscious of this fact and be courteous to others in line.
Midterms
Midterm is today! 5 weeks left until the end of the second quarter!
Family & Friends Day!
You should have received an email with a link with information for Family & Friends Day on Wednesday, November 27th . We invite Family & Friends to join us starting with Chapel at 8:30 am in the sanctuary followed by lots of fun activities throughout our school. Our day will conclude at 11:15 am. Please note, Clubhouse will not be offered in the afternoon on this day. Carline will run from 11:15 - 11:30 am.
A note from your Wildcat Athletic Boosters
Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to help support our Wildcat athletes! Whether it be coaching, concessions, or cheering from the stands, we value the support you give to our student athletes here at St. Peter’s. Your continued help throughout the school year helps to keep costs reasonable for all of our our St. Peter’s families.

Here’s how you can help -

Concession Stand – 2 people needed during most events (3 is often too many in the confined space). Volunteers serve refreshments and are the friendly face of St. Peter’s to all our hungry visitors. Shifts are 90 minutes. BONUS: If you volunteer in Concessions, you’ll get to see & use our new popcorn machine! This is the primary fundraising effort for our Athletic Boosters, which is why it is so important that we offer concessions at each sporting event.

Clean-up – 2 people needed following home events. Volunteers clean bleachers (leaf blower for popcorn messes!), check locker rooms, sweep gym floor, take trash out, etc. With 2 volunteers, this work can be done in 20-30 minutes. This is the quickest, easiest job of all. The gymnasium is shared throughout the ministry and each group is responsible to leave it in order for the next group.

Spirit Wear/Hall Monitor – 1 person needed during most events. Volunteers will accept payment for Spirit Wear sales and act as Hall Monitor. Monitors remind kiddos that a parent should accompany them whenever outside the gymnasium; Monitors also help direct visitors within our facility. (Restrooms? Yep, just down the stairs…) We have this person there to ensure safety for the kiddos and to be good stewards of the gym. If there is not a volunteer we will have to hire someone to monitor which will eat at some profit that is realized from all of the popcorn & candy we sell.
In Our Classrooms
5th Grade Social Studies
5th Graders have been hard at work on their dioramas of different Native American tribes. Students studied everything from environment to Religion to types of jobs and culture. Students presented their groups and were then asked questions about them to test their knowledge. What a great way to learn about life in the Americas and the diverse groups of people who lived there!
Kinder-Buddy Time!
6th Graders took some time this afternoon to spend with our Kinder-Buddies. They made monsters together and read books and most importantly, just spent time together. Our kindergartners love their 6th grade buddies!
