Administrative Appointment
Boise, ID  -- (06/06/2017) --  Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments, effective the start of the 2017-18 school year:

Debbie Donovan -  Boise Quadrant Area Director
 
Debbie Donovan has successfully served students in Boise public schools since 1982. During that time she has worked as an elementary school teacher (Highlands, Valley View and White Pine); intern principal (Franklin, Valley View and Shadow Hills); elementary school principal (Garfield, Longfellow, Mountain View) and currently as District Administrator of Student Programs (2014 to present).   

As Administrator of Student Programs, Ms. Donovan is responsible for curriculum, professional development, peer assistants, District Integration Specialists, New-to-the-District Induction Program, and Testing and Assessments. Ms. Donovan also provides direction and coordination for implementation of the District's Strategic Plan initiatives, as well as support and leadership with all other programs that impact students and staff within the Boise School District.
 
Ms. Donovan is a strong, knowledgeable and respected instructional leader who is dedicated to the District's vision of providing each and every student rigorous and relevant learning opportunities so that they are prepared to succeed in college, career and citizenship. In addition, Ms. Donovan believes establishing a positive school climate which includes parent and community involvement is critical for ensuring student success.

Ms. Donovan has served on numerous District level committees, including the District's Legislative Committee, Proposal Review Committee, Website Implementation Committee, Facilities Committee, Strategic Plan Committee and the Boise Public Schools Education Foundation Board of Directors. Ms. Donovan has also coordinated all elementary athletics in the District.

Ms. Donovan has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.


Mark Jones - Administrator of Student Programs  

Mark Jones is a respected instructional leader who has served Boise School District students since 1984.  He began his public school education career as a third and fifth grade teacher at Taft Elementary School where he worked from 1984 to 1989. From 1989 to 1997, Mr. Jones taught fifth grade students at Liberty Elementary School. From 1997 to 1998, he worked as Assistant Principal at Trail Wind and Riverside elementary schools.  Mr. Jones became Principal of Lowell Elementary School in 1999 and held that position until 2004. In 2006, Mr. Jones was selected to serve as Principal of Maple Grove Elementary School. In 2013, Mr. Jones was then appointed to lead Adams Elementary School as Principal - a position he currently holds.

Mr. Jones is an energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable school leader who builds a positive school culture conducive to academic success for each and every student.  He is popular with students and staff members and is fond of referring to his favorite cultural icon, Rosie the Riveter ("We can do it!") as proof that success is possible for each and every student.  Mr. Jones is committed to the District's Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in life. 

During his public school career, Mr. Jones has served on and been involved with various District and State level committees and initiatives, including District Strategic Plan Committee, Implementation of the STAR Reading and Math Program, Master Teacher Premium, and he currently serves on the Board of Idaho Association of Elementary Principals.  Mr. Jones was awarded the Gem Distinguished Service Award from the Idaho Association of Elementary School Principals Association.
 
Mr. Jones earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University in 1984 and a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho in 1998.
