S-2173 clarifies statutory exemptions from mandatory immunizations for students and makes the legislation effective immediately. NJASA recently asked the bill sponsors of S-2173 include an amendment so the effective date be the onset of the 2020-2021 school year to provide both districts and parents with more implementation time to make informed decisions in a timely manner.

I am pleased to notify you that the bill will be voted out of Senate Health Committee today with the amendment and scheduled for a floor vote on Monday in the Senate.
