NOTICE TO DERRY TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS
Notice is hereby given by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Derry, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, that resumes and cover letters will be accepted for positions on the following boards:

  • The Board of Library Directors
  • Industrial & Commercial Development Authority
  • General Authority
  • Downtown Core Design Board
  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
  • Planning Commission
  • Tax Collection Association
  • Zoning Hearing Board
  • Shade Tree Commission

Residents of Derry Township who are interested in serving on any of the above boards are requested to submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Township of Derry, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA, 17033, no later than December 20, 2019. Appointments will be made at the Reorganization meeting on January 6, 2020.
Did You Buy Your 2020 Dog Licenses Yet?
Pennsylvania State Law mandates that all dogs three months of age or older must be licensed annually.
 
Licenses are available for purchase at the Municipal Building, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey (a $.50 administrative fee is charged), or on-line through PA Dog License (mailing fee applies).
 
The cost for dog licenses are as follows:
Male - $8.50, Neutered male - $6.50, Female - $8.50, Spayed female - $6.50, plus the applicable fees.
 
The cost for senior citizens (65 years old and older) dog licenses are as follows: Male - $6.50, Neutered male - $4.50, Female - $6.50, Spayed female - $4.50, plus the applicable fees.
 
Applications for lifetime dog licenses must be applied for at the Dauphin County Treasurer’s office, 717-780-6556.

PPL Project update
PPL plans to complete restoration for the paved and gravel areas on the Hershey School property before the holidays. The remaining restoration work for the Hershey Company Parking lot and Hershey School property will be completed in the Spring to ensure the best grass growth. Starting on December 7 and running through
December 22, our Downtown Hershey Holiday
gnome, Snow, will be making his way around our
participating Downtown Hershey businesses.

If you find Snow, snap a selfie with him and
post it on Instagram or Facebook with
#downtownhersheyholiday. When you do,
you’ll be entered to win one of several baskets and
gifts donated by our Downtown Hershey businesses.

New Year's Eve in Hershey
Join us as we "Rock Through the Decades" in Downtown Hershey on New Year's Eve! As we prepare to ring in a new decade, Pentagon and The Mahoney Brothers present "Jukebox Heroes Live" will be playing sing-along fan favorites from the 1960s to today.

We encourage you come dressed to celebrate your favorite decade! As always, the event is FREE and family friendly. Stay tuned for more details about this year's event.

Fresh Evergreen Wreath Making Class
Saturday, December 14. 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Instructor, Andrea Beitzel, returns to the Hershey Public Library to show us how to make a beautiful evergreen wreath to decorate your home for the holidays. Class fee: $35. Fresh-cut greens, ring, wire and ribbons will be supplied and are included in the cost of the class. There are still some openings. Please register in person at the library.
Dungeons & Dragons
Friday, December 20. 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Dungeons and Dragons is hosted by the High School Dungeons and Dragons Club. Open to teens and tweens 12+. Come to play this fantasy table-top board game and make some new friends along the way. Registration is not required.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY TRAIN DISPLAY
It’s that time of year again!  Intended for train enthusiasts of all ages, the exhibit showcases multiple trains and trolleys with over 25 interactive displays on a large-scale layout. The exhibit features handcrafted historic Hershey landmarks such as the Cocoa Inn, the Derry Church Schoolhouse, the Hershey train depot, and a historic Hershey trolley, and Derry Presbyterian Church Sessions House. Hands-on controls for trains and miniature amusement rides attract the youngest of engineers.

Elf Skate & Santa Social
Have you ever wanted to learn to skate with Santa's elves? Santa and his elves will take a quick break from their Christmas toy making to visit & ice skate with us! After the fun of skating with the elves, tell Santa your last-minute wish list over some warm chocolate chip cookies & hot cocoa. Bring your camera for a special picture with Father Christmas himself!  

Sunday, December 22 - Giant Center
6:30-7:30pm - learn to skate & games with the elves
7:30-8:30pm - meet & greet with Santa!

$20 includes ice skating lesson, skate rental, parking at the Giant Center, goodies, cookies, cocoa, & all the pictures you care to take!
