Puesta del Sol's 30th Anniversary Celebration is THIS WEEKEND! 

Friday, June 2, 7-11 PM Anniversary Celebration KickoffWelcome all alumni, past and present teachers, parents and friends of Puesta del Sol (ages 21+)! The event is $25, located at the Vasa Park Ballroom Barn at 3560 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE in Bellevue, and features food, music, dancing and other entertainment. 

Saturday, June 3, 1-5 PM Family Day 30th Anniversary Celebration. Bring the whole family and join us on the field at school for an afternoon of celebration including music, live performances, dancing, food and other festivities. Meet alumni, current and former staff. See the school's new "El mismo sol" dance and so much more. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. Parking may be limited so please carpool and consider parking at Tyee MS or Newport HS

Bake Sale Items Needed for 30th Anniversary Celebration
Calling All Bakers -- We need your help! 

We expect a big turn out at our 30th Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, 6/3, which means we'll need a large amount and assortment of treats to sell at the PTA Bake Sale table. If baking is not your thing, store bought food (especially candy or items for those with food allergies) is very much appreciated as well. 

Special Instructions: Please ensure that there are NO tree nut or peanuts in any food, whether baking or buying.
Items need to be individually bagged to sell for $1. 
If you can contribute, please email Annie at arobinson105@yahoo.com, so we can track our collection progress.
 
There will be a tub in the Puesta del Sol main office beginning today, May 30th to collect items. You are also welcome to bring them directly to the event.
Puesta del Sol at the Mariners!
Sunday, 6/25 @ 1:10pm, Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros
 
Ticket cost is $15 per person. Game Give-a-ways include backpack coolers (to the first 10,000 dads) and Mariners wall stickers (for all kids 14 & under). More information about this event can be found on THIS FLYER.

PURCHASE TICKETS HERE! The DEADLINE to order is Wednesday, 6/7. If you would like to sit with another family, please place one order for the entire group.

PTA Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast- June 9
Friday, 6/9 @ 8 am in the Puesta del Sol Library! 
 
Our PTA Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast is coming up, and we would like to invite all of the PTA members who volunteered and dedicated their time and commitment towards helping achieve our mission throughout this past school year to come join us. Whether you were able to give a little or a lot of your time, we want to celebrate you! Please be sure to RSVP (by June 5th) to the separate invitation that all PTA Members should have already received via email. We can't wait to honor our members' great service to the Puesta del Sol Community.

SOS Program Needs More Volunteers
We are in need of help to continue the SOS program in 2017-18

The Spanish Outside School (SOS) Program was piloted this year with great success.  Kids in 3 rd-5 th grades speak 100% in Spanish during their time engaging in the SOS program, and have fun doing it! An overview of the program can be found in this  SOS Youtube Clip. 
 
To continue this program in 2017-18 the ISA committee needs volunteers to help organize and chaperone the sessions.  You child is automatically included if you are there!

Field Day Volunteers Needed!
This Year's Field Day is Friday, 6/23 @ 1:30pm - 3:00pm
 
Field Day is a great opportunity to have fun with your child and our school community. MANY volunteers are needed to run the 20+ stations, walk kindergartners & help clean up!   Sign up online for whatever job you would like.

Dining for Dinero Wraps up another Great Year
Thank You to all of the Families who Supported Dining for Dinero

Our May Dining for Dinero Event at Wayback Burgers earned $125 for the PTA.  Thank you to all the families who came out to show their support, and a big thank you to Wayback Burgers for their generosity!
 
Our Dining for Dinero program has now concluded for the 2016-17 school year, after earning a total of $1433.02. We want to express our thanks and appreciation to the local restaurants who partnered with us and generously supported our PTA this year.  Thanks also to the many families who participated in our Dining for Dinero Fundraising events!

A final huge thank you to Ericka Marini, our PTA chairperson, who did an awesome job this year putting all of her hard work into making these events successful.  Ericka will be moving to the PTA Executive Board next year, so we are currently looking for another dedicated volunteer to take on this task moving forward.  If you may be interested in this fun position, please contact our VP's of Fundraising

LIBRARY NEWS

End of Year Book Return
Friday, 6/2 will be the last day for checking out books for this school year.  

Why so early?  It takes 2-3 weeks to get all books returned.  All books MUST be in, or lost books paid for, before the school year is over. 

As added incentive, each student who returns their books gets a raffle ticket to enter in a Library Reward Drawing.  During the last week of school, I will pick out  40-60 raffle tickets and write the names of the winners on a chart outside the library door.  Winners will get to come into the library and pick a prize. 


Birthday Book Club Donations 
Please send book donations by Monday, 6/12 . Check "Puesta del Sol Wish List" on Amazon to purchase a book in honor of your student's birthday.  A very special THANK YOU to all parents and students who purchased or made a monetary donation for a new book to enhance the Puesta del Sol Library this year!!!!!  Your donations keep our collection up to date with a variety of books that all students love.  Thanks to those parents and students who kindly donated books from their own collections as well!

JOIN THE PTA WEB TEAM! NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

The PTA Web Team is seeking a Junior Web Content Editor. We will train you!
 
This position will learn to make updates to the PTA website this Spring and then take a more active role in late Summer/early Fall keeping website content up-to-date. The time commitment is ~2 hours/week, with some extra time needed the week before school starts, the first month of school, and on occasional website projects.
