Who We Are and What We Do
We aren't the ones who turn your water on and off. We do a lot of cool stuff here at the district. We provide education, resources and technical assistance for stormwater management, erosion control, soil testing, land management, watershed plans and more. Give us a call or visit our website.
Collecting Milkweed Pods to Provide Habitat for Monarch Butterflies
We're collecting Milkweed pods until this Thursday, Oct. 31! You can drop them off at our office located at 850 Industrial Rd.

Milkweed provides a habitat for the declining Monarch butterflies. Click below for harvesting tips and learn more about how the disappearance of milkweed has led to the decline of the monarch butterfly population.
Another Successful Fall Fish Sale
We'd like to thank everyone who supported our annual fall fish sale with Fender's Fish Hatchery. We sold hundreds of fingerling-size fish as part of our initiative to advance water quality and support area pond and lake owners.

Stay tuned for our next fish sale in the spring!
No-Till Drill, Farm Equipment for Rent
Fall is a great time to plant cover crops, which reduce soil erosion and runoff, break up compacted soils and restore nutrients to depleted soils. You can rent a no-till drill and other equipment to make it easier to put down winter cereal rye, rapeseed and other cover crops. For more information, call our office at (330) 740-7995 .
Sandbox Model Teaches Youth, Adults About Topography
We're glad to work with our local  Mahoning County Farm Bureau  and the  Ohio Farm Bureau Federation  by sharing their augmented reality sandbox to teach youth and adults how topography, or lay of the land, can influence water flow and erosion. The sandbox uses colored light to project an image that shows a topographic map that moves as the sand moves. These Canfield middle schoolers recently enjoyed it at their STEM event.
Follow us on social media to learn more about the services we offer and how we fulfill our mission to lead the conservation of land and water resources in Mahoning County through education, technical assistance and stewardship.
