Welcome To Our Brand New 2020 Vacation Guide
NEW FOR 2020
Thanks to all of our wonderful guests, wranglers and staff for making 2019 a fantastic year. However, a cowboys job is never done and we are working hard to make 2020 even better!
Visitors next season will see Canada's largest riding herd expand even more. We started acquiring new horses last fall and more will be added in the early Spring. Plus, as the ranch is attracting a new generation of riders, 2020 will see expanded rider education options for our beginners. In the dining hall we are adding new buffet items with more vegetarian options. We are even adding a broader selection of premium wines. Visitors will enjoy new non equine programs and evening entertainment. Plus, there is a new play area for the kids and a host of other initiatives for our youth and school programs.

Guests have already started to book for 2020. This is because when you book early you get the dates and the cabins that you prefer (and it is risk free because of our cancellation policy). So reserve now and start dreaming about your vacation with us in 2020.

Spring
The 2020 season begins April 22 with the fresh invigorating Cariboo Spring. The ice is off the lake and the grass is turning green. This is the ideal time for people who prefer a quiet ranch with the trails to themselves. The pastures and trails are lush and green and the birds and wildlife are active.

Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp
April 22 - 26, 2020
We are excited to once again host the
Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp!
Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp is a four-day workshop/jam camp at The Flying U. This camp is for people with all levels of musical experience coming together to create acoustic bluegrass music! It's about learning through enabling musicians to play with other musicians! This will contribute to creating music together in a positive, encouraging setting at the Flying U. There will be many opportunities to learn, share, and create music together with long time friends and with brand new friends too.
Wrangler Week
April 27 - May 3, 2020
How would you like to be a wrangler for a week? This year's dates for our Wrangler week are April 27, 2020 to May 3, 2020. It is for guests who would like to join in for the annual Spring work party. It's all about fixing fences, opening trails, piling firewood, cleaning up the tack room, and sprucing up the grounds. There's fellowship, great meals, nightly camp fires and lots of chances to ride. Dogs welcome if they want to help. Cost is just $135.00 per day and that includes food, lodging and a horse assigned to you for the stay. In return all you do is help in the mornings and the rest of the day is yours.

Opening Week
May 4, 2020
Join us on our opening week and be the first to hit the freshly groomed trails with your friends and your favourite horse. It's usually quiet at the ranch this time of the year so it is the favourite time for our serious riders who want the trails to themselves.

May Long Weekend
May 15 - 18, 2020
Our first long weekend of the year is when things pick up and the ranch starts to fill up with families and friends. It's a weekend of riding in great May weather followed up by extra activities and surprises in the evenings! This year we are kicking it off with a special guest performance for a Saturday night filled with music and dancing for all ages. May long weekend always books up fast so reserve your cabin early.

Summer
June 21 to Sept 22
The summers in BC's Cariboo region are sunny and warm which is ideal for both horseback riding and summer activities by the lake. This is our family period with children on school vacation. The lake is perfect for swimming and we also have tubing and boat rides every afternoon. This is ideal for guests who enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy ranch with campfires, archery, canoeing, sing songs, karaoke and quiet evenings on the dock listening to the loons.

Wild West Family Week
Monday June 29 2020 to Friday July 3 2020
Have you heard about the FLYING U WILD WEST FAMILY WEEK designed for both parents and children!!
This week is designed for families to come up to the ranch and enjoy a full range of activities such as h
orseback riding, trail rides and gymkhana events.
Children will also be offered nature hikes, canoeing, tubing and archery.
Evening activities will include fun for the whole family such as talent shows, archery, camp fires and game activities.
Please note: this year children must be accompanied by parent or guardian for all activities.
Be sure to book early as space is limited and spots are filling up fast.

With some of the best weather of the season, join us for the BC Day Long weekend. Spend the morning on the trails and the afternoon on the lake tubing or water skiing. With only a couple cabins left for this weekend, make sure to call in and book your spot so you don't miss out on your BC Day vacay!

Federation of Canadian Artists Retreat
September 20 - 25, 2020
The Federation of Canadian Artists have booked the ranch this year for their Plain Air Retreat. We look forward to having this wonderful group of artists at the ranch.

Fall
Sept 23 to Oct 12
Many guests choose the fall for the clear cool days of riding in the brilliant fall colours. The cabins are heated by wood stoves and are nice and warm in the evenings to curl up and read a book.

Wrangler Clean Up Week
October 5 - 9, 2020
Getting ready for winter is a big task here at the ranch and this also allows for you, the guest, to have an extra opportunity to join us! This week will consist of stocking up on firewood, putting in new and fixing up existing fencing for our winter pastures and of course general clean up. The cost for the week is $135 per person per night which includes your 3 meals per day, accommodation, use of all facilities and your afternoon of riding.

Thanksgiving Weekend
October 9 - 12, 2020
People love riding in the cool, crisp colours of fall at the Flying U. Let us serve you your favourite Thanksgiving meal, turkey and ham. We will do all the cooking and cleaning, all you have to do is bring the family.
