Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate

Individuals who have a CDA, a Pathways approved career diploma, technical diploma, associate degree in early childhood, or bachelor's degree/higher are eligible to apply for the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate. This certificate will be required by 2019 for Lead Teachers in Type III programs. Information about the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate can be found in the  here.

Teachers can apply for and receive their Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education at no cost. The application can be found here. Please send any questions to Erin Carroll at [email protected]

*The Ancillary Teaching Certificate is now considered an approved early childhood career diploma on the Pathways' Career Ladders. (See below)
2017 School Readiness Tax Credit

There will be NO CHANGES to the career ladders for the School Readiness Tax credit in 2017. Current star-ratings will be extended and tax-credit requirements will remain the same.

*For 2017, the Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate will be counted as an approved diploma on Pathways' career ladders.  This means:
1. If your CDA expires in 2017, to maintain your level for the tax credit, you may submit a current CDA credential OR your Ancillary Certificate.
2. If you have an unrelated Bachelor's or Master's degree and have not been eligible for the tax credit in the past, you may submit your Ancillary Certificate to be placed on an eligible level for 2017.
