Food & Farming across the Golden Horseshoe
Our Serving Up Local project saw nine municipally-run long-term care homes in three different regions in the Golden Horseshoe collectively increase their local food purchases by over 23%, including a 124% increase in fresh seasonal produce and a 494% increase in new Ontario entrees!

How did this happen in long-term care homes that operate on a fixed and low raw food budget? The Serving Up Local II: An Economic Analysis project aims to answer this question!

News from the Province
The Government of Ontario has announced it will help businesses in the province's agri-food sector improve their operations so they can continue to support jobs, boost the economy and bring more safe, high quality foods to local and international markets. Through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the government has committed more than $6.5 million in funding to food processors and other businesses.  Read more .
