General Membership Meeting and Election of Nominating Committee
Join us at the Lake Hills Library on Tuesday, January 23 @ 7:15pm to elect this year's PTA nominating Committee Members. 
This committee will be responsible for interviewing officer candidates to fill open leadership positions, and for creating a slate of officer nominees for election by the general membership in the spring. The candidates for the 2017-18 Nominating Committee are as follows:

Staff Appreciation Treat Days
As part of the ongoing effort to show staff how much we appreciate their talents and skills, each grade level has been assigned a day to bring in treats for the staff; look for details from your room parent. (5th graders aren't included due to their busy schedule).

January 10 - 1st grade
February 2nd - 2nd grade
March 7 - 3rd grade
April 18 - 4th grade
June 6 - Kindergarten

May 7-11 is Staff Appreciation Week 
Join us for Wonderland's Wackiest!
Just Another Day in Wonderland, Friday & Saturday, January 19 & 20, 2018 @ 7pm, Interlake HS Performing Arts Center
It's NEVER "just another day" in Wonderland, so come see your 4th and 5th graders lose their heads over the story of Alice! Support them by buying $5 Praise Notes in the program, $3-8 flowers, $3 candygrams and tickets on the Drama Page. Ticket prices are $10 General / $15 VIP and are also available at the door. 3rd/4th graders get in free with a paying adult! Will the White Rabbit make it to the Tea Party on time? Don't be late and you'll find out!
5th Grade Tillicum Middle School Information Night!  
Tuesday, January 9, 6:30pm - 8:30pm @  Tillicum at Ringdall (11650 SE 60th Street, Bellevue, WA 98006)
See what Tillicum has to offer for your 5th grader. You will have the opportunity to follow a mini schedule to get a sample of a typical middle school day. "Classes" begin promptly at 7:00pm.
After School Programs: Session 2 Begins Mid-January
Our  After  School  programs teach music, drumming and dance from Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.  
These classes offer our students an opportunity  expand their appreciation of culture and diversity , all taught in Spanish! Plus, you can self-select the session fee that best fits your family's budget!

  • Tambores del Sol on Tuesdays
  • Flamenco on Thursdays
  • Bomba del Sol on Fridays
  • Salsa/Hip Hop on Fridays

Session 2 will run January 22 - March 9. Registration will open on Tuesday, January 9. More details can be found on the PTA After School Programs page.

Stretch Pants Needed for the School Clinic!  
The Puesta del Sol clinic could use more stretchy pants and underwear in all sizes for girls. Boys pants are welcome too! 
Box Tops!
Holiday season means SAVING box tops!  
Puesta del Sol's 5th Annual "Box Top Collection Contest" will run from January 15 through February 16. Start clipping and saving Box Tops to help your kiddos and grade buddies earn an extra recess (weather permitting)!  Collection boxes will be in each classroom.
Exchange@Home Pilot Program (Programa Intercambio@Casa)
The pilot program will run February - April 2018.
Apply by January 15, 2018 to be one of the few lucky families to pilot the program.

This is a unique language and cultural exchange opportunity for 5th grade native Spanish and English speaking students right here in Bellevue. They will spend time with each other's families speaking and learning traditions and culture in the home over 3 months where parents plan activities at their convenience.

International Festival!!
 
Saturday, May 5, 2018 @ 6:30pm, Newport High Performance Arts Center

A celebrated event nearing the end of the school calendar, the International Festival features our student body in dance, song, and musical acts from across the globe, led by various friends and members of the Puesta del Sol community, including our dedicated Amity interns.
