Double Whammy or Double Whoopee?

How's this for double insurance? In Biblical days, there were usually two walls built around the city. Between the walls there were rooms, one used for investigating the visitors as they entered the gate. In this room questions were asked, articles were inspected and only after the individuals were found not to be a threat to the city were they allowed to enter. I was told of the double walls while walking the ruins in Jericho. These walls were attached with a "road" on the top so wide that chariots could race! In Jerusalem today apartments are built in the walls of the Old City that can house families. These double walls are amazing!

The number two is a strong number. It represents agreement, connection, witness, and support. It can also mean division and separation too. In the double walls if the visitor was found un-desirable to enter, there was a separation and division from the city as they were sent on their way.

We have just entered the second month of Iyyar on the Hebrew calendar. It is a "connecting and linking" month and just like the double walls is a time of examination between the months. "Repentance" took place in month one (Nissan) before Passover and "Redemption" took place. "Giving" is represented in month three (Sivan) where the feast of Pentecost lays. It was at Pentecost that the gifts of the Word and of the Holy Spirit took place! Repentance and redemption prepares us for these special gifts! We are now in a special time of preparation and examination! The second month (Iyyar) links these together and is a powerful month! It's not a double whammy but a double whoopee!

Once I was getting ready to leave Ecuador and fly back to the US after ministering to leaders at the capital. I had packed my suitcase with lots of wonderful coffee to give to partners and friends. After checking in my bags I awaited my departure. But before boarding the plane my name was called out, and I was escorted outside between a row of soldiers with machine guns. It was a little unnerving but because I was on assignment from Heaven I knew I would be alright. They called me over to a table where my suitcase was to be opened for me to identify the contents. The dogs had sniffed out my bag thinking I may be smuggling out drugs! I had not realized that coffee many times is used to camouflage the smell of contraband! After investigation, many questions, and unwrapping the coffee I was allowed to enter the plane.

The secret is in knowing who

you are and where you are going. If the King of the city had invited you there, after investigation you would have been escorted to where you were going. You did not need to be fearful for you were invited. I did not need to fear as the guns and dogs surrounded me for I knew who I was as well and that my assignment included returning home. The King of Kings has given us all assignments and has invited us to carry out His will. We just need to spend time with Him daily to understand what He has for each day.

The word that is translated "feast" in the English is the Hebrew word which means "appointment". They were to be "holy convocations" or in Hebrew "rehearsals" according to Lev 23:2. Every feast or appointment God set up with the children of Israel was an appointment with Him and a "rehearsal" of what was to come! It was to help the people recognize the Messiah!

On Passover when the Children of Israel sacrificed the lamb and applied the blood over their doorpost, it was a sign of covenant. In the same manner, Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified on Passover as our Passover Lamb to open covenant for us to enter in. The feast of First Fruits is celebrated after Passover. It was a rehearsal of Yeshua being raised from the dead on the feast of First Fruits as our First Fruits (1 Cor 15:23).

The children of Israel were told to meet God at the mountain to receive the Torah and His "gift" of directions for their lives in the ten commandments. In the second month their hearts were being prepared as they looked forward to the "gift"! In the same way, before ascending, Yeshua gave instructions to go to Jerusalem and await His "gift". They too, in the second month, were being prepared! It was also on the same day of the feast of Pentecost that the Torah (first five books of the Bible) was given in Exodus and that Holy Spirit came in the book of Acts! Now that's a double Whoopee! And an amazing confirmation!

We are in the month that links all this together! It was in the month of Iyar (the second year of Exodus) that the Israelites began their travel through the desert with their newly completed tabernacle. It also was when the tribes found their places that surrounded the tabernacle and experienced His Shekhinah glory! It was in this month the disciples went to the upper room and prayed making a tabernacle in their hearts for the Holy Spirit to dwell! We are in a month not only of preparation but of finding where we fit in God's plan and experiencing His presence like never before! Whoopee, Whoopee!
