Hi Everybody,
What a beautiful fall! Last season we were already into sub-zero temperatures, low water and significant snowfall. I am hopeful for another great snow pack but I'm thankful that it hasn't started quite yet.
We pulled off another successful crane day yesterday (October 16th) and nestled 29 boats onto their trailers for the winter without issue. Days like yesterday are such a great reminder of just how lucky I am to have this amazing crew. I spent 25 years in the emergency medical field and know that a team is working in sync when you find yourself executing a task in good spirits. When you step back and see your team smiling and laughing with an 12,000 lb. boat hanging from a crane. I am so proud to be part of this excellent organization and the people that comprise the heart and soul of the Dillon Marina. Thank you!
An opportunity is on the horizon. There is a marine diesel maintenance course November 8th- 10th through the Victoria Sailing School at Cherry Creek. I have attended this course and found it to be engaging and incredibly informative. One of the highlights is that they have several models of fully functioning, marine diesel engines that are completely exposed. Rarely will you find the opportunity to see one of these power plants at work that isn't stuffed into a fiberglass cave. Day one is the basics of diesel engines followed by how to diagnose and repair issues. If you are aspiring to set sail into blue waters, this is an opportunity to learn how to take care of yourself out there.
If you are planning to continue to sail Lake Dillon,
DO NOT ATTEND THIS COURSE so you can continue to pay us to work on your engine .
So here we are at the end of another great season. There are a few thoughts that I would like to share with you as we turn towards Winter.
First, come back! In the infinite wisdom of The Carpenters, "we've only just begun". I want you to know how much I appreciate all of you. In my view, this small marina community is a great example and a clean spot in a very messy world.
Thank you for spending your hard-earned dollars with us and trusting us to take care of your property.
Second, to my amazing crew, THANK YOU!!! Most of you are heading back into the hills for your winter jobs. Be safe out there and I hope that all this Summer sunshine will keep you warm for the Winter.
Third, and this is not a request, to all of you............treat yourself like someone you love!
