AEBG Data Collection and Accountability -
1/2 Day REFRESHER Training
|
|
In order to stay abreast of any new changes in AEBG data collection and accountability, our consortium office is recommending that at least one representative from each of our consortium members attend a half day AEBG Data Collection and Accountability REFRESHER Training. Join Neil Kelly of the AEBG Office and Jay Wright of CASAS to cover all of the new 2017-18 AEBG policy changes, data and accountability, program metrics, community college specific changes, and more.
The trainings are from 9 am - 12 noon. There is no cost for this training.

Another useful tool from the Fresno County Library is the
LearningExpress Library, featuring tutorials, videos and practice tests geared toward helping learners achieve their goals. Depending on their needs, customers can explore different areas such as the Adult Learning Center, the Career Center, and the High School Equivalency Center, as well as others.

AEBG Report on Implementation and Effectiveness Now Available
|
|
The Preliminary Report on the Implementation and Effectiveness of the Adult Education Block Grant Program is now available on the AEBG website.
To ensure that AEBG funding accelerates adults into employment, living wages, and full engagement in society, AEBG state legislation requires the the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction submit reports to the Legislature. This is the preliminary report, with the final report due March 1, 2018, and it addresses the key requirements of the legislation, the evolution of California's adult education system, and recommendations.

AEBG Field Team Updates
|
|
The AEBG Office established three field teams - the Data and Accountability Committee, the CTE Assessment Committee and the AEB/ASE/ESL Committee - to develop recommendations related to adult education data tracking, definitions, assessment and accountability reporting. Their recommendations were used in developing a policy paper that currently is being finalized for submission to the legislature.

The AEBG Office has released a new eMagazine. The eMagazine tells the story of why adult education is important to California's economy and provides an overview of AEBG activities, data and innovations.
This current issue also includes a video highlighting the Fresno region's efforts to connect adult students.

AEBG Services Directory Now Available Online
|
You can now access services, by program area, for each consortium and each member within a consortium through the AEBG Services Directory, which is accessible below and via the
AEBG homepage. This is a great collaboration tool in that it allows you to easily see which other consortia or members offer similar services and can also be shared with prospective students who want to know more about programs offered within their community.

AEBG - Renewed Advocacy More Critical Than Ever!
|
|
Heading into year three of the Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG), adult schools and community colleges continue to make strides in collaborating and serving adult students in need for basic skills, ESL, citizenship, short term career training, and more. Unfortunately, AEBG is not being sufficiently conveyed to the Legislature at the local level.
To assist in efforts to promote adult education, CCAE and CAEAA have put together an
advocacy plan for FY 17-18 that will help pave the pathway for further investment in AEBG.

CCAE Regional Consortium Directory

The AEBG TAP is offering a training opportunity to be held at the Merced County Office of Education on January 29, 2018 with a preliminary webinar on January 17th.
This will be a unique opportunity for AEBG administrators and instructors to receive valuable training on instructional rigor from nationally recognized subject matter expert Jayme Adelson-Goldstein.

OTAN, in conjunction with State Center Adult Education Consortium and Central Learning Adult School Site (CLASS), will be offering a Google Training workshop on January 26, 2018 from 12 pm - 3 pm. The workshop will be held at Central Learning Adult School Site (CLASS) in Fresno.
Attendees will learn how to navigate Google Drive, Forms, Sheets, and Keep, in addition to other information.

Fresno Unified Opens Dream Resource Center
|
 The Dream Resource Center is now open at the Fresno Adult School satellite campus located in Manchester Center. The resource center is set up to assist the community with the federal government's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program renewal applications, citizenship courses, dissemination of accurate information, training for our stakeholders, and provide office space for individuals to receive services and support. The center will also serve non-Fresno Unified participants.
