City of Westland to Give Away 10K in Shopping Sprees to Mark 10th Year of "Shop and Dine" Campaign

Westland, MI (November 19, 2019) - The City of Westland has officially kicked off the 10th annual Shop & Dine Westland Holiday Campaign on Monday, November 18. Shop and Dine is a 6-week multifaceted marketing campaign entitled "Shop & Dine Westland" which promotes Westland's premier shopping district as a location that bears " Everything You Want. Everything You Need" for your holiday season shopping list.

Westland's Shop and Dine district is anchored by the Westland Shopping Center and is surrounded by over 160 wonderful shops, restaurants and services making it Wayne County's premier shopping and dining destination.

The City plans TV commercials which will begin this week.

Radio ads will also be hitting the metro area air waves, and the City will utilize billboards on major freeways. The campaign also encompasses a large digital and social presence.

The campaign includes promotion of Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Saturday, November 30 and is the counterpart to "Black Friday." Television and radio ads encourage shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local. Statistics show that for every $100 that is spent locally, $49 stays within the community. That means that your shopping dollars are helping small business owners pay local taxes which build parks, libraries and improve police and fire services.

Also as part of the Shop and Dine Campaign, the City will once again encourage Westland shopping by raffling off free shopping sprees to the Westland Shopping Center.

This year's event will be bigger and better than ever as Westland is partnering with the popular WNIC Jay Towers in the Morning Show to give away TWO $5,000 shopping sprees! Jay Towers will be on site giving away additional prizes and doing a live broadcast from the event! Everyone present at the Mall on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. will have a chance to win one of the grand prizes and there will be additional prizes given away.
