Frederick County Office of Economic Development is bustling with new activities and opportunities as fall continues to settle in. 
 
October 4 th was National Manufacturing Day. While there has been a lot of talk in the news about the decline of manufacturing, Frederick County continues to see growth.  You can see that growth in the By the Numbers section and read more about National Manufacturing Day on our blog. 
 
Agriculture is another important contributor to our county's economy. In appreciation of our dedicated farmers, we invite you to come and celebrate Homegrown Hay Days from October 19th through October 20th. Twenty-one area farms are participating in this free, family-friendly event highlighting the importance of Frederick County agriculture. You can learn more about Homegrown Hay Days on our blog!

Finally, our first ROOT Video Pitch Competition was a stirring success! Three local businesses were recognized for their excellent video pitches. National Manufacturing Day 2019
October 4th was National Manufacturing Day. Frederick County is home to 180 advanced manufactures ranging from biopharmaceuticals to craft beverages. 
Homegrown Hay Days
Take part in hands-on, family-friendly activities like picking pumpkins, petting an alpaca and enjoying hayrides at county farms this October 19th & 20th.

Frederick County Future Minority Business Leaders Program Graduation
Frederick OED recently recognized the graduating class of the third Frederick County Future Minority Business Leaders Program. This year's theme was "Forge ahead and chase your dreams."
First ROOT Video Pitch Competition a Success! 
Last month, we highlighted our first Video Pitch Competition. The contest was a rousing success, with three businesses winning awards in the Judge's Choice and People's Choice categories.

The Martha E. Church Center for Civic Engagement was established as part of Hood's 125th anniversary celebration. Facilitating connections with government, businesses, nonprofits and other community organizations, the Martha Church Center supports community-based learning to serve the public good of the Frederick community and provide enriching educational opportunities for Hood students.
