Fire Department Deployment Project Analyzes Call Dispatch, Response

The PPMC was proud to assist with facilitation and research to help City of Wichita and Sedgwick County emergency service providers address responses to low-acuity calls (those calls not presenting immediate danger to life, health or property) by the Wichita Fire Department.
Because the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County successfully worked together on policy changes and improvements in emergency medical dispatch, the Wichita Fire Department has seen a 12 percent decrease in low-acuity calls since 2015. In addition, the changes have resulted in improved response area reliability and more effective use of public resources.

Project Wichita Team Shares Community Report's Findings

Since the Community Report's launch in January, the Project Wichita team has been focused on sharing the report's findings. To date, this information has been shared with nearly 50 diverse, regional organizations. Additionally, over the last few months several key initiatives have been developed, including the launch of FlagshipKansas.Tech, ChooseWichita.com, I  Fly Wichita and the Kansas Health Foundation's Literacy Campaign, "Can't Wait to Read."
Last month, an advancement team was formed to help lead the coalition forward, to ensure progress on the vision and action plan initiatives, and to help launch task forces. Advancement team members are Aaron Bastian, Jeff Fluhr, Ronn McMahon, Shelly Prichard, Susie Santo and Juston White. More information about Project Wichita can be found here.
