Principal's Message
April 28, 2017
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP,
This busy week has been filled with STREAM activities. The student work in the hallways represents the Texas Road Trip project that included the study of Texas energy resources: petroleum, wind, solar, and water. If you walked through the school on any given day, you could have seen students making and using solar ovens made from pizza boxes and aluminum foil (Can you smell S'mores?), engineering (and testing) kites, constructing models of solar and wind powered houses, testing parabolic solar ovens, and more. On Tuesday night, Math is a Big Deal was the "talk of the town." Lower elementary students rotated through stations facilitated by seventh and eighth grade students to experience a variety of hands-on activities and problem solving experiences. Then, parents were welcomed to come in the evening and participate as well. The director of Math is a Big Deal travels around Texas with this program. She shared how impressed she was with the OLQP students: how well they worked together, how advanced their problem solving and higher level thinking skills are, and their good manners. That says a lot about this very special school and the wonderful staff and families who make sacrifices of time, talent, and treasure to be a part of it!
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
