DECEMBER 2017
From Our Family to Yours,
Wishing you the very best in the New Year!
ALPHA Building for the Future
Every year ALPHA gathers for an Annual Conference  to review the previous year's results, receive training and education from our vendor partners and celebrate our successes. This is also a time to renew old conversations, build some new friendships, share some laughs and get caught up on the latest happenings within the ALPHA family. Our 2017 story unfolds with team members from all eleven Alpha branches converging in San Antonio, Texas...

The event kicked off with a Welcome Reception under the stars at the historic Alamo. Team Members reconnected with each other and vendors as a duo of re-enactment soldiers gave an entertaining (and heart pumping) firing range demonstration. Good food and times were shared by all!

Friday morning, the General Session opened with presentations from ALPHA's CEO & Founder, Vic Verma and President, Henry Schmueckle. T opics included our 2017 results and how we can build upon successes to reach our goals for 2018 and beyond.  Installed Building Products (IBP) CEO, Jeff Edwards also addressed the group, giving us an overview of IBP's performance and growth in 2017.  Team members saw the direct results of how their hard work and dedication impacts the successful future of ALPHA & IBP.

The energy and momentum continued to grow as our Keynote Speaker, Clint Swindall, CEO and President of Verbalocity, took the stage. Clint gave an insightful, thought provoking and entertaining message related to his two books, Engaged Leadership and Living for the Weekday. His message for us: Be a Positive Difference Maker Every Day!

Our afternoon session got underway with the "Voice of the Customer", a town hall
format allowing Team m embers to "pick the brains" of local customers in our industry. Thank you to this year' s panelist, Mallory Ottino with Joeris, Randall Jay with Bartlett Cocke, Jason Smith with Spaw Glass and Adam Sangl with McCarthy. Your feedback is crucial in helping ALPHA improve our knowledge and  relationships.

A Vendor Trade Show closed the Friday session. This is an opportunity for Team members to meet with key trade partners and learn about new products and programs. Our trade partners represent the very best in products, goods, and services allowing ALPHA to be the best in class on any project.

Everyone rec onvened on the San Antonio Riverwalk  for a boat ride to  evening festivities at La Villita Plaza.  Party goers were greeted by a mariachi band to set the mood as they enjoyed authentic Mexican fare and live entertainment .

Vendor product training was on the docket for Saturday morning. Team members were  divided into small groups to receive  hands-on training  and  demonstrations  covering waterproofing, firestopping and fireproofing/sprayed insulation systems. Opportunities for this type of "one on one" training is crucial to the success of ALPHA.

The bright, warm Saturday afternoon, lent the perfect backdrop for those wishing to capitalize on free time to explore our beautiful host city before heading to the final event of the weekend, our Awards Gala.  This is a time to celebrate ALPHA Team Members and their accomplishments. Service awards were presented,  Prakash Verma Memorial Scholarship recipients were announced and the 2017 Larry Tedford Leadership Award was presented to Matt Carpenter, Houston Sales Director. The Gala ended with a favorite tradition,  our meeting recap video and the ALPHA Lounge after party, sending everybody home completely exhausted but on a mission to build a brighter future for ALPHA in 2018!
