As with any non-profit, these next couple months of year end giving are the most crucial ones for our long-term success. These are the months that keep these doors open on an annual basis with your generous support. The miracles and gifts of life you see on a monthly basis, the lifelong friendships that happen under this roof and the loving memories of those we shared a journey with are your gifts to the transplant community. But make no mistake, the $45 per night we charge our families in need that includes a home cooked breakfast for all each morning is nowhere near enough to offset our costly operating expenses.

Live Love Donate Event Raises Money for RHTH
Many thanks to our friends Amy, Holly and Lindsay with Live Love Donate for stopping by this morning to donate a portion of the proceeds to RHTH from their annual Steve Muenchow Golf Outing held in loving memory of Amy's husband and Holly and Lindsay's dad.
These ladies are really amazing...we will never forget when they hooked us up with all the hallway golf supplies we needed to bring joy to the life of our cancer and avid golfer friend Steve during a bone chilling winter last year. Those were moments we will never forget with Steve who so badly wanted to attend your event this year but just didn't quite have the stamina. He did want me to share the following letter with you all though. Please know how much we all appreciate you!

Celebration of Living Organ Donors
What a great honor it was to be invited to the recent celebration of living organ donors at The Edgewater in Madison. So nice to see some old Restoring Hope friends get honored for giving the greatest gift possible. We are all so proud of you and grateful for your incredible kindness to help others in desperate need!

We had registered guests from a pretty incredible 15 different states this October. Such a blessing to be here for Transplant Day's, to celebrate kidney donors, have members of the Stoddard Lioness Club come all the way to visit and to see so many old friends for checkups. Thank you all for a great month!

Deane and I don't even know where to begin to say thank you for all you have done for us and for all the people that have been here and are yet to come. What an inspiration you both have been and so many lives you have both touched and blessed along all of our journeys.

In Loving Memory of our Caroline Lions Club Friends
We would like to extend our love and condolences to the families and friends of the 3 Caroline Lions Club members who have passed away as a result of their injuries following a horrific gas explosion as they were preparing for their major annual fundraiser.
These types of Lions fundraisers and the generosity of those clubs throughout the state and beyond are why Restoring Hope Transplant House has our doors open to transplant families in need so this was a very personal tragedy for us all.
It has been one of the greatest honors of our 7 years of service to help these incredible people who we have so grown to love through the transplant and Lions communities!❤️

When A Michigan Wolverines Family Receives The Gift of Life At The University Of Wisconsin
|
We are always very proud of our Badgers around here, so we really enjoyed seeing this. A proud Michigan Wolverines family recently underwent a life-changing pancreas transplant here at the University of Wisconsin for Danelle's type 1 diabetes. A big volleyball family, we took them to visit the UW Fieldhouse during their time here...home of the super talented Wisconsin Volleyball team. During their visit and after chatting with some members of the team, they became hooked enough to drive to Ann Arbor recently to watch the Wisconsin vs. Michigan volleyball match. While Dad's still a proud Wolverine supporter, pancreas recipient Mom and their youngest volleyball playing daughter are definitely Badger fans now. Wisconsin athletics is such a huge part of our community, we appreciate all they have done over the years to support this house and the families that stay here!
As many of you know, the University of Wisconsin Hospital is the #1 pancreas transplant hospital in the country and has helped countless people in their battles with diabetes...many of whom have stayed here at Restoring Hope Transplant House. On Wisconsin!

Brian's Journey Through Leukemia and GVHD
Cindy's husband Brian has battled aggressive leukemia for well over a year now and while we feel so fortunate that he remains cancer free, he has struggled for several months now with Graft-Versus-Host Disease issues that effect his eyes. While this is quite common, it has proven to be too problematic at the moment for him to return to work which was about to happen. We were so grateful at the timing of this recent GVHD convention in Chicago to learn more about this issue and how we can hopefully get Brian through this. It was very educational and might be something that proves to be helpful for so many of our cancer fighting families going through similar issues.

Celebrating Good Health And Life After Transplant
|
Every week is like alumni week at Restoring Hope. Old friends return for checkups and visits and it's always so wonderful to have that time to catch up, share laughs and stories and reminisce about the journeys we all shared here at the house. It's so wonderful to have long-term friends like Dan and Jackie (Eau Claire, WI) come back years after transplant and see the remarkable difference in their overall recovery.
Dan had a liver transplant in 2017 and at the time had the worst MELD score possible. It was not an easy journey, but on more than a couple occasions, we have heard Dan declare that "this is the best I have ever felt!" He's so passionate about giving back and paying it forward, that they recently volunteered to help out around the house and even went to visit some of our guests in the hospital. They arrived as complete strangers in 2017 and today feel just like family. This is the true beauty of this house and why we feel that the community we have all built is so worthy of your continued support!

A complete stranger from overseas became our families donor for leukemia after it was determined they were the best possible match available on the bone marrow registry. What an incredible gift and blessing that person has been in our lives.

The home features six generously-sized guest rooms, multiple sitting rooms, full kitchen, laundry, cable tv, wi-fi and a tranquil yet convenient location in downtown Middleton, just five miles from UW Hospital.
