Calling students - Apply for Dairy Challenge Social Media Corps
Madison, WI, September 6, 2019 - Calling all dairy communications students! The North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) is now recruiting for the 2019-20 Dairy Challenge Social Media Corps. This unique opportunity allows students to gain real-world experience in developing their social media and communications skills.
Social Media Corps members will be mentored by communications professionals as they develop a content plan - including capturing photos and creating social media posts - and will help to manage the online conversation during the upcoming 2019-20 Dairy Challenge events.

Technology may recover phosphorus from manure, sludge
An engineer from Aarhus University in Denmark has received European Union funding for the launch of a new research project that may have far-reaching and ground-breaking environmental significance as it promises to completely revolutionize the way liquid waste is managed.
Sleep, lying deprivation may influence dairy cow behavior
Management factors in dairy freestall barns influence cow behaviors, and researchers recently examined the effects of sleep or lying deprivation on dairy cow behavior.
Publishing their study in PLOS One, researchers Jessie A. Kull, Gina M. Pighetti and Peter D. Krawczel of The University of Tennessee; Katy L. Proudfoot of The Ohio State University; Jeffery M. Bewley of Alltech Inc., and Bruce F. O'Hara and Kevin D. Donohue of the University of Kentucky collected data from eight multiparous and four primiparous cows, which were initially at about 199 days in milk and 77 days pregnant.

Dairy industry and National Football League have partnered for 10 years on Fuel Up to Play 60, a program focused on promoting good health in K-12 students.

Register now for the 37th ADSA Discover Conference, Natural Bioactives in Dairy Production: Science, Functions and the Future, that will be held October 28-31, 2019 at the Eaglewood Resort and Spa in Itasca, IL
The dairy industry is under economic and societal pressure to increase efficiency while simultaneously reducing environmental impact and ensuring animal well-being. This conference will focus on the latest developments in understanding how specific feeds or compounds alter animal performance through immune stimulation, microbial modification, metabolic regulation, and inflammation reduction.
