Girls In Cub Scouting

Several packs have asked what they need to know about the new BSA policy allowing girls to register as Cub Scouts. Bottom line: girls may join Cub Scouts with 2018 spring recruitment campaigns. Details of how to conduct these spring recruitment campaigns will be presented at the 2018 University of Scouting training day on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at ACC's Eastview Campus. Specific courses are "Welcoming Girls To Your Pack" and "Preparing For The Next Generation Of Scouts: Be A Scout & Online Registration". CLICK HERE for additional information about registering girls, including items necessary to help district and council resources help you.
More At University Of Scouting

As mentioned above, University of Scouting will offer classes on membership recruitment. It will also feature "fireside chats" with Scout Executive Jon Yates about the new policy concerning girls in Cub Scouts. Overall, the event offers more than 100 classes on different Scouting topics led by the most creative and experienced Scouters from all over our council. CLICK HERE to register.
Celebrate Scout Spirit At Report To State

Have you registered your Scout unit yet to join thousands of Scouts marching up Congress Avenue to the Capitol on February 3 for the annual Report to State (RTS) event? The "Scouting Across Texas" event includes the parade and a Scout spirit rally and Eagle recommitment ceremony on the south steps of the Capitol. Afterwards, check out Austin's cool sites. New this year: every youth and adult in a Scout uniform gets into the Bob Bullock State History Museum that day for free! Event registration is free. Official RTS patches are $8 per person. CLICK HERE for details and to register.
Your Cub Can Learn From An Astronaut!

Bring the family to STEMboree, our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) event at the Frank Fickett Scout Center on March 3. We will have robots, engineers, makers, drones, critters and more in our free Midway. Your Cub Scout or youth can also sign up for NOVA Classes and STEM adventures online, including a special session of "Out of this World" taught by Astronaut Greg Chamitoff. CLICK HERE to register.
Registration Opens For TechLab: Caves

Our award-winning STEAM Day Camp challenges your Scout to explore STEM as they prepare to live in cave environments. Classes cover Robotics, Electronics, Programming, Woodworking/CNC and more!   There are new classes this year at both the 3rd-5th grade level and the 6th-9th grade level. Camp takes place at Austin ISD's Applied Technology Center at Anderson High School in five week-long sessions in June and July. More information and registration at techlab.camp.

A Gift That Keeps Giving To Local Scouting

Over the past four years, earnings from our council's endowment has helped provide an average of $200,000 a year for capital improvements to our camps and other Scouting facilities. Making a James E. West Fellowship gift is a great way to help build the endowment and provide a lifetime's worth of support for local Scouting. CLICK HERE to learn more about the James E. West Fellowship, and how you can take part.
