Principal's Message
January 12, 2018
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Inquiring minds want to know...Why is it so important to support the OLQP fundraising weekend? One of the goals of the school is to keep Catholic education as affordable as possible while funding a superior academic program, paying fair wages, and maintaining an attractive, functional facility. Every family is given a discounted tuition rate. No one is charged the true cost of tuition. Additionally, built into the schedule are multi-child discounts. Families can apply for need-based assistance.  This year, the gap between tuition and true cost is about $1600. per student
That difference is bridged through fundraising. Our OLQP staff and families are integral to the success of this effort. Sr. Antoinette started the raffle and festival years ago as a way to engage the entire community in a real and direct way to support the mission and ministry of OLQP. Many of our friends and neighbors are just waiting to be asked.
This event weekend can be transformational for our school. Your involvement and support can truly make a difference. Selling tickets, donating items, attending the events, bringing friends and family, and bidding at the events will have a positive impact.
We are grateful for everyone who has "jumped in" to help. We invite everyone to be a part of this. If you have any questions about how to help or are not sure about attending the gala because you don't know what to expect, just call, email, or stop by. We want our whole family to be together.
          Please join us!
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

News You Can Use...
I hope everyone enjoyed a healthy holiday vacation.  Unfortunately, the flu is present throughout the  Brazoria/Houston area.  The website www.cdc.gov  has  lots of pertinent information regarding the flu. I would advise everyone to take a moment and look at this site.  For several years OLQP has been part of the Brazoria County Flu Watch Preogram.  A weekly report is sent to Brazoria County Health Department  regarding  the number of children with temperatures greater than 100 or a positive test for the flu. Thus  Brazoria County can track and let us know what is in the area.  As part of the Brazoria Watch, we are starting to see an increase in our area. . It is still not too late to receive  the flu vaccine.  The vaccine  might not pervent the flu, but it could lessen your symptoms and provide a quicker recovery.  If your child or a family member has the flu or experiencing temperatures above 100, please let me know.
I know that after being sick, parents want their children back to school as soon as possible.  Please remember our return to school policy: Children can return to school after they have been free from fever, temperatures 100 and above, for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
Let's keep everyone safe and healthy!
