Message from the President
This is a very interesting time in the business world, especially if you watch the market and geek-out (as I do) on earnings! According to  MarketWatch.com , “Apple, Exxon Mobil and Facebook are three of the more than 150 S&P companies that will report in the coming week, even more than in the crowded week before.” It was interesting to see how Beyond Meat Inc. did this week and other first-time reporters like Lyft and Pinterest who reported on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Also, check out the latest Delaware Department of Labor statistics for unemployment in the U.S. and in the First State for September.

Recruiting New Board Members
BlindSight Delaware is an organization of volunteers and professional staff dedicated to improving the quality of life for blind and visually impaired adults and children in Delaware through programs of recreation, enrichment, communication and education. They offer services such as peer support, programs for adults and children, recording services as well as access to their specialty resource store. The organization has a rich history of serving those with vision impairments in Delaware that dates back to 1909.

Under the new leadership of Executive Director Loretta Harper-Brown, BlindSight is looking to recruit viable board members with expertise in marketing, banking, financial services, legal, etc. Ideal candidates will have the ability to assist and/or advise with fundraising efforts. This is an opportunity to be part of rebuilding the governance of an organization that provides valuable services to our community statewide and to help them grow a vibrant organization that changes the lives of those they serve.

Commitment to Care:
Q&A with Roy Proujansky

Nemours Delaware Valley Chief Operations Executive, Roy Proujansky, MD, retired in August 2019, after 30 years with Nemours serving families in the Delaware Valley and beyond. He was responsible for all clinical operations at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Nemours duPont Pediatrics and prevention efforts in the Delaware Valley.

Dr. Proujanksy shared that being involved with the community is key to Nemours’ mission. “Being able to connect with businesses and other organizations through the networking opportunities the Chamber provides is extremely valuable,” he said. “The healthcare industry is one the largest employers in the state, so having connections and knowing about the business climate and workforce development and education efforts are critical for continued progress.”
