When snow begins to accumulate, the town's plows clear roads in priority based on road classification.
Primary and secondary roads are cleared first to ensure that you, and emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances, can safely travel during or immediately after a snowfall.
When snow accumulation reaches 7.5 centimetres (3 inches), residential streets are cleared.
The town aims to have all roads cleared within 24 hours after the end of the storm, however heavy snowfalls or successive storms can sometimes extend this period.
You can stay up-to-date with snow clearing progress with our
PlowOakville interactive map. Using GPS technology the map tracks the progress of our plows during a snow event.
