2017 CIMS User Group Conference Highlights

The CIMS User Group Conference was held on Thursday, October 5th at the K alahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. More than 45 cemeterians gathered to learn about CIMS software and meet other CIMS users from various states.

It was a great day for interaction and a time to exchange ideas regarding CIMS and cemetery operations. Presentations were given on CIMS Cloud, GIS, and where CIMS is heading. Todd Szymkowski talked about Ground
Penetrating Radar and gave an outdoor demonstra tion of GPR. Round table discussions were held on various cemetery topics, and time was spent answering question s and discussing what new features clients would like to see in CIMS.

Many positive comments were received from attendees.  They appreciated learning more about CIMS Cloud capabilities and having an opportunity to talk to CIMS experts. The CIMS Team members enjoyed visiting with current CIMS users and meeting new cemeterians. Our next CIMS User Group Conference will be in the fall of 2019.

CIMS Cloud Features - Responsive Design
Responsive design is the idea that all webpages should be easy to use, regardless of what device is being used to view it. In other words, web applications are designed to respond to the screen size of any device so it does not interfere with the user's ability to interact with the application. In traditional responsive design, webpage elements shrink and grow depending on the screen size.
Text is designed to remain the same size to prevent it from becoming u nreadable on smaller screens, but all funct ionality remains the same. In addition to responsive design, there is also adaptive design, which is the idea that a web application can adapt or change depending on a screen size. In adaptive design some functionality may be hidden or turned on and off depending on screen sizes.

We utilize both responsive design and adaptive design when building CIMS Cloud and eCIMS, so that if you were looking at it on a laptop, tablet, smartphone, or even a big 65" 4K monitor, you will still be able to interact with and use CIMS Cloud. This means as you use CIMS Cloud, you will only see the functions that are needed while you use the application. For example, the right "fly-out" starts in its hidden position until such time that you select a grave space. By using adaptive design, we can give you a greater view of your map without cluttering up the screen with unwanted boxes and information. Another example is the use of popup windows. These windows only open when needed by the user. This "hiding" of information until needed helps to reduce confusion and information overload, and creates a smoother, more efficient and effective work flow for you. This is just one of the many ways we designed and continue to improve CIMS Cloud.
