Is the early snow giving you the holiday feels or seasonal depression? Shovel into this week's edition to view the latest version of the Economic Development Newsletter, the most recent scam, how to be recognized as a Hometown Hero, and more!
Hometown Heroes
On this past Veteran’s Day, Mayor Dave Ament presented our 2019 Hometown Heroes with their Military Lightpole Banners. These banners were displayed on National Ave from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.  We thank our active City of New Berlin military men and women for their willingness to serve our great country.

We now begin soliciting for our 2020 Hometown Heroes. For details and an application please visit Celebrate our Local Heroes. Remember, applications are due by March 31, 2020. Questions?  Contact Melody Styba

Snowfall Safety
With our first few snowfalls in the books, we want to remind residents about some snow safety tips:

  • When cleaning snow from your driveway, the snow should be stacked to the right side of the drive as you face the street so when the snowplow comes through it will take the snow from that area away from the driveway.

  • Please remind your children not to stand close to the road. Also, if there are high banks of snow at the end of the driveway, don't allow your children to tunnel in them. This is a huge safety risk!

  • Please keep fire hydrants near your home clear of snow. If a fire were to occur, this simple step may be crucial for our first responders.
How do you feel about the early snow fall?
Keep the snow flying!

Business
Fraud Alert
A gift card scam has targeted at least three local businesses, costing the victims hundreds of thousands of dollars. According to New Berlin police, the victims believed they were communicating with the owner of their company via email. The emails contained headers that looked almost the same as the companies they work for. The victims were asked to purchase gift cards with their own money and the scammers told them they would pay them back by transferring large amounts of money to a different account. You can learn how to protect yourself from scams by clicking the button below.
