Día de los Muertos Highlights

On Saturday, October 19, 2019, The Ohio State University put on an event celebrating Día de los Muertos! Students, faculty and staff, and the community of Columbus came together to celebrate the holiday. We enjoyed music, face painting, Junior's tacos, and a screening of "The Book of Life" at Gateway Film Center. Then, we all joined in on the procession leading to Sullivant Hall, where the rest of the day took place.

Friday, November 1, 2019, Professor Roberto Herrscher, Director of the School of Journalism at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Santiago de Chile, will be visiting The Ohio State University to present his lecture entitled, "History and Personal Experience as Sources of Narrative Journalism: Why and How I Returned to the Falkland/Malvinas Battlefields 25 Years Later". He will also be holding a workshop on Native Journalism.

The Center for Latin American Studies at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for fellowships for Summer 2020 and Academic Year 2020-2021 under the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program. These fellowships are available to all full-time undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at all levels and in any department who are pursuing a course of study which requires advanced foreign language and area studies training. We highly encourage that you attend one of our information sessions if you are considering applying for this fellowship.

The 2020 Global Studies Symposium on National Research Center, Community College and Minority-Serving Institution Collaboration will be held on Jan. 9-10, 2020 at Florida International University. The dialogue-driven symposium will feature presentations to stimulate discussion, cultivate collaboration, and develop new programming partnerships related to, but not limited to:

• Effective Approaches to Internationalizing Curricula
• Building Global Studies Programs
• Leveraging Technology to Create Unique International Learning Opportunities
