IT'S TIME FOR THE GOBBLE JOG!
The Gobble Jog is a Thanksgiving Day tradition featuring a 10K run, 5K run/walk, 1K run/walk and a Tot Trot. The race benefits MUST Ministries, a non-profit that helps about 32,000 people with 84% women and children in need each year by providing food, clothing, shelter, job training and more. MUST addresses the basic needs of individuals, families, and children in the Northwest Metropolitan Atlanta communities of Cobb and Cherokee counties.
Packet Pick Up will be available Wednesday (
11/27/19
) at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway from
10 AM-6 PM.
If you have kids coming with you, they will have free bounce houses there as well.
Race-day registration will open Thursday morning (
11/28/19
) at 6:
30 AM
on the Marietta Square. The timed 10K and 5K will be closed then, but all the untimed events will still be available - 5K, 1K, Tot Trot.

The Chamber is pleased to announce that nominees are currently being sought for the prestigious First Citizen of Cherokee County Award. The 45th Annual First Citizen will be announced during the 49th Annual Meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center.
The distinct title of First Citizen of Cherokee County is bestowed upon a man or woman who has resided in the county for a minimum of five years and has shown significant meritorious service to his or her community through family, civic and/or religious involvement. A panel of out-of-town judges carefully reviews the accomplishments of each applicant and the winner is chosen based upon merit

LEADING BY FEEDING
Graduates of Leadership Cherokee from 2012-2019 were challenged to secure contributions for local food pantries through the Leading by Feeding Campaign! The campaign generated 8,399 donated items ranging from fruits and vegetables to diapers and paper products.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECYCLING COMPETITION
The Chamber's Going Green & Education Committees co-sponsored a two-day Plastic Bag Recycling Competition in partnership with Waste Management between twelve of Cherokee County's Elementary Schools who collected over 167,000
plastic bags. Johnston Elementary collected an amazing 22,408 bags during the two-day event which brought them to a phenomenal 38.57 bags/student. Congratulations to the students at Johnston for winning the competition!

Chamber's Education Committee is holding a School Supply Drive. The supplies collected at the Good Morning Cherokee Breakfast from September-December will be donated to Title I Elementary Schools in the Cherokee County School District.
Donations will also be accepted at the Chamber until December 5th. You may also make a monetary donation and the supplies will be purchased for you.
