Greetings from GoServ Global
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” 3 John 4.

Those were the words of the Apostle John 2000 years ago and the joyous words I get to share with you today.

We just finished our first year of classes at Inheritance of Life Christian School. Eighty-five kids going to school, learning to read and write in classrooms with Christian teachers praying over them and with them. The gospel message is not just spoken at Inheritance of Life but lived out daily through a hot meal, an environment based on Biblical truth and adults who truly love these kids. The Apostle John’s message to the church was to proclaim Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came in flesh, died for the sins of the world because He loved us. We walk in the Light if we love one another and care for each other’s needs.

I want to say “THANK YOU” to all of you who have made this first year of school a reality. Through your prayers, mission trips, financial gifts and student scholarships eighty-five kids were fed physically, intellectually, and spiritually. You are part of the team who is investing in these children and setting them on a course to do incredible things of the Kingdom.

Classes for 2020 already have 100 kids signed up to attend and with the second floor of the school nearing completion, that number will grow to 200. That fills my heart with joy and my head with worry. The joy of an additional 100 kids learning about Jesus is almost overwhelming, but the financial needs that it will take is, well, overwhelming. This is a mountain I can’t climb without you. We are still working to find sponsorships for our first 100 kids. We have been running a deficit for most of the school year due to a lack of sponsorships. Our sponsorship goals were to acquire $35 per month per student and $250 per month per teacher. If we reach our student sponsorship goal, we survive. If we reach our teacher sponsorship goal, we thrive.

Please prayerfully consider how you can assist in this matter. Also, please be our advocate and share the ministry, its importance and its needs with others. To sponsor a child, visit our website at goservglobal.org/sponsor-a-child-2/ .
We had a wedding in July that I get to share with you. Ruben, our translator, ministry partner and adopted son, has finally taken the plunge into married life. He met a wonderful Christian Guatemalan gal named Aracely. She is the only girl in a family of 4 brothers and has enough grit and spirit to keep up with Ruben. Her first week in the house, that has only seen men and boys for the last year, was cleaned from top to bottom. Things got put away and organized - Ruben and I couldn’t find a thing! She even got Ruben, Christian and I to sit at the table and have a meal like a family. And cook, oh she can cook. I expect to see Ruben put on some pounds with Aracely’s cooking. After she was in our home for a week, I looked at Ruben and said you should have married her months ago.
Time for a little bragging. Most of you know Christian’s story, our adopted Guatemalan son. Christian was basically a street kid who lost his only parent 1 ½ years ago. He didn’t have much education, was always dirty and smelly, always hungry and just craved attention. He came to live with us and started attending school. After many fights with him about taking showers, wearing clean clothes, doing homework and not eating everything in the house, he has turned the corner. Christian, because of a stable Christ-centered environment, started making the honor role in school. He then received an honor that goes to only one student per school per year. Christian received the top academic achievement award for his school and was acknowledged in a ceremony with all the top kids from the other area schools. I am very proud of him but also wonderfully amazed at how a stable Christian home has changed this young man’s life. The gospel is more than sharing in words but also caring in action.
Sam and Veronica send you their greetings and love. They continue to serve the church body through the ups and downs of church life. Melissa, their daughter, is living here in the States with Kelly and I and going to Central in Elkader. She is in her senior year of high school and first year here in the States. It has been more than a little challenging, but she is hanging in there. She thinks that Iowa is beautiful but cold. I just smile and say, “Just wait!”
