Our next Alumni General Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 11, 2018, 6:00 pm in the McDonogh 35 Library, 4000 Cadillac Street, located on the first floor.  As always, please contact fellow Roneagles and either bring them with you or encourage them to attend and become an official paid member of the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association. Click here for the  December Financial Report and November Treasurer Report .

Honoring Distinguished Roneagles 

On February 23, 2018, the McDonogh 35 Senior High School Centennial Celebration Committee will honor a number of graduates - for their personal and professional achievements that represent the legacy for which McDonogh 35 Senior High School is noted.  

There is still time to nominate graduates.   Click here to see the  Wall of Fame criteria  and  Wall of Fame nomination forms .   Forms can be submitted by class or family members.  Once confirmed by the Centennial Nomination Review Committee, a nominal fee of $100 (per honoree) is required.  The fee will defray the cost of the "Wall of Fame" display and honorees' name plate. McDonogh 35 Alumni Association 3rd Annual Winter Social

T he McDonogh 35 Alumni Association 3rd Annual Winter Social was held Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Sha'Jollie's Banquet Hall, 6940 Martin Drive, 8 pm-12:00 Midnight. Over 200 guests were in attendance with everyone having a great time!!!!!  The event raised over $2,000. Special thanks to Ms Gloria Leon '65, for her diligent work in making this event a success.

Roneagle in the Spotlight 
 


Dr. Sheryl Kennedy Haydel, class of 1987, has been named Dillard University's Director of Communications and Marketing. She brings a unique breadth of experience and education to the position. Kennedy Haydel's communications career spans 25 years, including working in print journalism, public relations and in higher education.
Kennedy Haydel's storytelling is rooted in her time as a newspaper reporter, where she began at the Austin American-Statesman (Austin, Texas) in 1992, and matriculated to The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit News, and Detroit Free Press, where she was a business reporter from 1999-2001.
She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Clark Atlanta University and throughout her professional career, has continued her education. Kennedy Haydel was an Inaugural Chips Quinn Scholar, a program that promotes diversity in the newsroom. She also holds degrees from the University of Maryland--College Park (M.A. in Journalism), University of Wisconsin (MBA, with a concentration in Marketing), and the University of Southern Mississippi (Ph.D., in Mass Communication and Journalism.)      
Kennedy Haydel has taught at Delgado Community College, Southern University at New Orleans, University of Southern Mississippi, Tulane University and Xavier University of Louisiana, where she was an assistant professor in the Department of Communications from 2008 until 2017.
She is a New Orleans native, with deep ties to Dillard. Her parents (Coach LaBaron Kennedy and Jean C. Kennedy, class of 1960) and sister (Sonia J. Kennedy, class of 1984) are graduates of the University. Kennedy Haydel is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Public Relations Association of Louisiana, American Journalism Historian Association, the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. For 13 years, she has been married to David M. Haydel, McDonogh 35 class of 1988. They have two children together.

The Association's Fiscal Year is from October 1September 30. You may now pay your 2017-18 Alumni Dues via PayPal. Yearly Membership dues are $35 and Lifetime Membership dues are $350. Lifetime Membership dues may also be paid in five $70 installment payments. Also when you pay please put your graduating year in the comment section (and, if you are paying with your business account, your first & last name as well).  Please pay by clicking on the appropriate PayPal button below.

*Pins can be picked up at General Meetings in New Orleans, Dallas, or DC.  Lifetime Membership cards will be mailed to the address on file within 30 days.  
 
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS MUST BE PAID IN THE SAME FISCAL YEAR. IF INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS ARE NOT RECEIVED BY SEPT. 30, 2018,  THE PAYMENTS MADE, LESS 17-18, DUES WILL BE REALLOCATED TO SCHOLARSHIPS.
