In 2005, Cynthia Kamikazi graduated from Luther College with a BA in Psychology, Business, and French. She went on to study human rights and has worked for the UN, Lutheran World Federation, National Human Rights Commission of Rwanda, GAVI vaccine alliance, and the African Development Bank. Midwesterners think they are all too familiar with ice this time but year, but is there more to ice than just the freezing of water? Luther College Professor Emeritus of Physics Dennis Barnaal will go into depth on the fascinating aspects of ice at
3 p.m. Thursday, January 11, in the Mott Room of Dahl Centennial Union as part of the Luther Emeriti Colloquium series.
SAC Cinema presents Inception. A thief, who steals corporate secrets through use of dream-sharing technology, is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO. Mid-Winter Community Day 2018 - Luther College in partnership with  Decorah Bank & Trust invite all area families and friends to enjoy an afternoon of food, fellowship, and fun beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, in the Regents Center. Registration can be completed  online or by calling the Alumni Office, 387-1164 or  (800) 225-8664 . The community day pizza party is $2 for adults, no charge for children 18 and under. Admission to the Luther basketball games that day is FREE.

CEPE TV Dinner - Join Professor Brooke Joyce to watch and discuss an episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati," a CBS sitcom that ran from 1978-1982. In "Real Families," which aired following the election of Ronald Reagan, a TV crew films a family during a "typical" midwestern Sunday, foreshadowing the genre of reality TV, with all its ethical and aesthetic implications. Tuesday, January 16, 6 p.m., CEPE, Olin 214. RSVP for a TV dinner . Seating limited to 12.

Hot Reads for Cold Nights - Did you do any leisure reading over the holidays? Share your fun  reads  with READING to earn one prize drawing ticket for each book completed. The first prize drawing will be on January 12! Hot Reads for Cold Nights is open to all students, staff and faculty, on or off-campus. Meditation Hour: Thursday afternoons during J-term, from 3:00-4:00 p.m., students are invited to the Zen Den in Health Services to experience guided meditations designed to quiet the mind and calm the body. No meditation experience is necessary, and orientation information will be shared at each session. Space can accommodate up to 8 participants, first come, first served, and there is no cost. Sponsored by health services and counseling services. Please check in at health services front desk.

Local Shopping Shuttle  available to students on Saturday, January 13 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Shuttle Van departs from Luther to Decorah Walmart and other stops requested in between. Open to all students at no charge, but reservations are requested, please register here. Meet in front of the Union.

The Dorian Vocal Festival Concert and Grand Concert are set for 7 p.m. Sunday, January 14, and Monday, January 15, respectively, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. The concert Saturday features Aurora, Norsemen, and special guest choir the Urbandale Singers. The Festival Grand Concert Sunday features Nordic Choir, Dorian Vocal Festival Choir; Dorian Vocal Festival Chamber Choir; and five concert soloists chosen from mini-lessons held during the Dorian Vocal Festival weekend. Sunday's concert is sold out.
