This week we observe the anniversary of the death of former
President John F. Kennedy (56 years ago today).
Let us continue to emulate a "Profile in Courage" by courageously
standing for the elimination of abortion in Ohio!
NEWS AND VIEWS
1. The Life at Conception Act (LAC), House Bill 413, has been formally assigned to the House Criminal Justice Committee for hearings
. As this bill eliminates abortion as a legal procedure and subjects practitioners who would continue to attempt to perform the grisly (under LAC, illegal) act to Ohio's existing statutory penalties for murder, this is the proper committee to hear the debate. The 13 member committee is chaired by Representative George Lang of Butler County. The members of the committee are: Republicans Vice Chairman Phil Plummer (a co-sponsor of LAC), Jim Butler (Speaker Pro-Tem), Robert Cupp (former Ohio Supreme Court Justice), Diane Grendell, Don Manning, Bill Seitz, and Todd Smith (a co-sponsor of LAC); Democrats: Ranking member Dave Leland, Jon Crossman, Tavia Galonski, John Rogers and Thomas West. I encourage you to call or email both Chairman Lang and at least one other member of the committee (your own Representative or one who represents an area close to you) asking for HB 413 to be scheduled for hearings before the year ends.
2. The House version of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Inclusion bill (HB 369), The "Un-Fairness Act" was allowed sponsor testimony in the House Civil Justice Committee on Tuesday.

, Republican from Tuscawaras County, shared their reason for introducing the bill, which amounted to using the bill's provisions to force businesses, schools and private facilities to embrace the alphabet-soup LGBTQIA++ sexual confusion agenda. Those whose express deeply-held Biblical views toward sexuality in their businesses would be subject to investigation by a state agency for "discrimination." An "educational" component requires schoolchildren to learn about the "origins of discrimination" against the alphabet-soup gang, where it would not be surprising to have such "education" be designed to make Biblical Christian beliefs the source of all animus toward the sexually confused in our culture.

3. Once again, President Trump has signaled his
commitment
to the cause of Life.
He recently nominated Dr. Maureen Condic, a microbiologist who testified before Congress in support of the Pain-Capable Abortion Ban, to a seat on the 25-member board of the National Science Board. Dr. Condic, a professor at the University of Utah, holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a widely published scientist whose works have appeared in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. Abortion rights supporters immediately attacked her stating "(Condic) does not heed the stance of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists or that of maternal-fetal medicine and does not respect current scientific evidence." All I can say is: 1) Thank God for her ignoring ACOG and 2) Hello. Dr. Condic is MAKING current scientific evidence while respecting the rights of unborn children. Thank God, and thank you, Mr. President!
4. Another reason to thank God for our current Commander-in-Chief is the explosion of judicial originalists that are being appointed at the District and Circuit Court levels all over the country

Circuit, where Ohio's cases are heard. The hits just keep coming and solid jurists keep lining up to fill vacancies all over the country.
5. In yet a further example of why Pro-Life Ohioans need to make sure they, their families and their Pro-Life friends are registered to Vote and actually do it, I present to you the Keystone State of Pennsylvania
. In our neighbor to the east, who will be playing a football game against OSU on Saturday, Pro-Life citizens are realizing that there are other games being played on them. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (Democrat), vetoed legislation yesterday protecting unborn children with Down's Syndrome from being aborted, carrying the water for Planned Parenthood, who spent $1.5 million dollars on his election in order to benefit in this way.
Elections do matter, and an engaged grassroots making wise voting choices can trump special interest money every time.
Let's work in 2020 to make Ohio un-buyable for Planned Parenthood, whether it's the courts, the legislature, or the President!

United States Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor
- Justice Sotomayor was born in Bronx, New York, on June 25, 1954. She is 65 years of age. She earned a B.A. in 1976 from Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude, receiving the university's highest academic honor. In 1979, she earned a J.D. from Yale Law School where she served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal. Sotomayor served as Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office from 1979-1984. In 1991, President George H.W. Bush nominated her to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York and she served in that role from 1992-1998. She served as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1998-2009. President Barack Obama nominated her as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court on May 26, 2009, and she assumed this role August 8, 2009. Sotomayor has proven time and time again that she is a committee "living document" jurist, ruling against Constitutional precedents, pro-life and pro-family issues in the 10 years she has been on the high bench.
U.S. Congress Warren Davidson
-Congressman Davidson represents the 8th District which encompasses a large swath of southwest Ohio from Springfield in Clark County through Troy in Miami County to West Chester in Butler Count. Davidson, a business owner and former member of the United States Army, ran his father's manufacturing business, started another business and earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He built cultures of excellence, growing the family shop from 20 employees to multiple companies with over 200 employees. He is a tireless advocate for the small business community and is the former Chairman of the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association. Davidson began his Congressional service by winning a brutal 18 way special election primary on the resignation of John Boehner from the seat. As a constitutional conservative and military veteran, Congressman Davidson takes his congressional oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States very seriously. Warren serves on the prestigious Financial Services Committee, where he is focused on policies that promote economic growth. Warren's other priorities in Congress include fixing the VA, defending the Constitution, and making sure the political elites don't bankrupt America.
Ohio State Board of Education District 5: Lisa Woods
-Lisa is a mother and community activist from Medina County. Lisa and her husband, Jim, founded the nonpartisan group Medina County Friends And Neighbors (MCFAN) in 2008 as a vessel of citizen education on local, county and state issues. In the course of her time leading MCFAN Lisa has had the privilege of forming relationship with countless elected officials and constituents like herself. She serves as the vice-chair of the Assessment and Accountability Committee of the Board and was elected to her seat in November of 2016 and will be up for re-election in 2020.
Ohio House Economic and Workforce Development Committee
-the committee is charged with helping Ohio be a strong leader in jobs and making sure Ohio's workforce is prepared to do the job. It is comprised of 15 members (nine Republicans and six Democrats) and is chaired by Rep. Paul Zeltwanger of Mason. This committee has heard bills relative to creating opportunity zones and extending business tax credits, enhancing apprenticeship programs and oversight of the quasi-public Jobs Ohio program. The committee meets at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.
Ohio Senate General Government and Agency Review Committee
-this committee is assigned bills that would have significant statewide impacts or deal with checking the Executive branch agency activities. It is chaired by Senator Kirk Schuring of Canton and has six Republican members and three Democrat members. The committee deals with bills establishing a state office of drug policy, whether or not Ohio should expand sports wagering, and whether Ohio should be removed from observing daylight savings. The committee meets on Thursdays at 9:15 a.m.
