October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
The explosion of Wi-Fi enabled gadgets through the Internet of Things has made everyday life easier and more efficient in many ways. With this convenience, however, also comes more stories of hacking, data breaches, identity theft, malware and other cybersecurity breaches for consumers and businesses. 

This month – the 16th annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month – we encourage you to learn how the cable industry is taking steps to protect your data and the safeguards you can enact. With the holidays and increased online shopping quickly approaching, now is a good time to protect yourself, your devices and your data.

Two new reports find that the cable industry is increasingly contributing to Texas’ robust economy, and that nationally the industry’s workforce is becoming more diverse.

In cities and towns across Texas, local cable operators and their employees make their communities a better place to live. Cable companies not only make financial and in-kind donations to numerous civic and charitable organizations, but employees volunteer thousands of hours of their time each year. Some of Houston’s Finest Recognized during Hispanic Heritage Month 

Comcast recently honored eight community volunteers in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, at the fourth-annual Comcast Hispanic Hero Awards. The honorees were recognized for their commitment to making a difference in the community through volunteerism, mentorship, advocacy and civic engagement. Comcast also announced it will donate $1,000 to the nonprofit organization of each honoree’s choice.  Read more .
