BCHS hosts Open House Nov. 7
Families of middle school students are invited to join the students and staff of Bishop Chatard High School on Thursday, Nov. 7, for our 2019 Fall Open House. At this year’s Open House, guests will tour the school with a BCHS student, talk with teachers and administrators, and learn about the 125 diverse courses and over 50 clubs and athletic teams that have helped make Bishop Chatard one of the top college prep high schools in Indianapolis. 
Tours will begin in the BCHS varsity gym at 5:30 p.m., with the last tour leaving at 7:30 p.m. While exploring the campus, our guests will have a chance to learn about the unique academic programs offered, enjoy musical and student improv performances, meet team coaches and club moderators, and talk with recent graduates about how Bishop Chatard prepared them for college.

Early Dismissal Nov. 7
In preparation for the 2019 Open House, Bishop Chatard will release students at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. In order to have the building cleaned, prepped and ready for our Open House, all students must leave the school building by 1:30 p.m. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Principal Joe Hansen at jhansen@bishopchatard.org.
BCHS Welcomes our new Social Worker!
Mrs. Nancy Ferrara resigned her position as Social Worker at Bishop Chatard High School at the start of Fall Break. We are pleased to announce that we found a highly qualified replacement in Mrs. Laura Gorr. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Gorr as she transitions to BCHS as our new Social Worker.
Mrs. Gorr is a graduate of BCHS, class of 2000. From there she went to Indiana University and studied Psychology and Criminal Justice and continued on to Ball State University where she received her Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance Services. Mrs. Gorr has a lot of experience providing school-based mental health services to children and families. Most recently she has been providing services through a private practice where she works with children and adults with a diverse range of mental health needs. Outside of work, Mrs. Gorr enjoys spending time with her husband, Doug, and her three daughters, Bailey, Riley and Zoey. Dad's Day Breakfast
Bishop Chatard Dad's Day Breakfast welcomes special guest Greg Mark as our featured speaker on Friday, Nov. 22 . Greg was recently highlighted in the Archdiocesan newspaper,  The Criterion . Greg will share the story of the near-death experience that left him blind at the age of 25 — an experience that changed his life and his faith.
Greg is a former BCHS parent. His daughter and son-in-law both work at BCHS. Daughter Allison Mayer serves as the Administrative Assistant to the principal's office and son-in-law Tyler Mayer serves as Executive Vice President.
Please RSVP by noon on Monday, Nov. 18. Doors open at 6 a.m. Food lines open at 6:15 a.m. Speaker will begin at approximately 6:35 a.m. and the morning will conclude no later than 7:15 a.m. Cost is only $5 per person, payable at the door. Click here to RSVP!
BCHS ImprovTeam tryouts
Students interested in trying out for the Bishop Chatard ImprovTeam are invited to attend optional tryout workshops and one of the scheduled tryouts! Students will be invited to come to callbacks. Honoring our Veterans  
November 14
Throughout the year, the Bishop Chatard community honors the military veterans who have served our nation, and we continue to pray for the safety of the men and women serving in today’s Armed Forces.
As a small thank you for service to our country, we would like to honor members of the military, along with their family members, at our annual  Veteran’s Day Mass on Thursday, Nov. 14 , at 9:55 a.m. There will be a reception in the cafeteria for all military family members and veterans following Mass. 
Bishop Chatard would like to pay a special honor to our alumni who are veterans or active duty military. Please complete the form below and upload photographs of you (or your family member who serves) while in the military. We will pray for you and include you in our veterans/military display at the Mass honoring those who serve our country. Chatard-a-Bration Gift Gathering Parties
Gift gathering parties are under way! Two class parent parties will be held in November: The Class of 2022 on Nov. 16 and the Class of 2023 on Nov. 9. Click here to find out more information about this year's Chatard-A-Bration and for details on specific class parties!
Alumni Lunch Presentation
Students are invited to visit with Mike Jansen '81 on November 20 during all lunch periods in the St. Benedict Center Conference Room. Mr. Jansen will be presenting on his career journey as a video producer, voice talent and stadium announcer for the Indianapolis Colts. Your student must register using his or her BCHS gmail account to attend during the scheduled lunch period. Boys Volleyball Call-Out Meeting
There will be a callout meeting for boys volleyball on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in the BCHS cafeteria. A boys volleyball open gym workout will take place in the Aux Gym following the call-out meeting. This will be an opportunity for prospective/returning players to meet the new head coach and coaching staff, and begin preparations for the upcoming season. Interested students should attend. There will be a parent informational meeting later in the school year. If a student is interested in playing but unable to attend, please e-mail Coach Joven at  james.joven@gmail.com .
Jr. Trojan Volleyball girls open gyms and tryout information!
Open gyms for girls interested in volleyball are being held at Bishop Chatard on Sunday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. These open gyms will be for girls in grades 6 - 8. Cost for each open gym will be $10.  Tryouts are being held on Sunday, Nov. 17, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, and Thursday, Nov. 21, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Try outs cost $50 for all three sessions. 2019 National Catholic Youth Conference
Volunteers Needed!
Every other year, 20,000+ Catholic young people and their chaperones come together to pray, learn, and grow in their faith at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis. This year’s conference will be held November 21-23 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. As the host diocese, we need 1,000 volunteers throughout the three days to serve in a variety of roles. A complete list of volunteer needs including descriptions, requirements, shifts and times can be found here!
Central Indiana Knights presents: Hat Trick for the Homeless
Come support the Central Indiana Knight's hockey team on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6:15 p.m. at The Fuel Tank. The team will also be collecting hats for the homeless. We would love to pack the stands with students, faculty, and staff to support our Bishop Chatard players! Click here to see the 2019-2020 schedule.
