Williston Economic Development is rolling out more details for its first Economic Development Week May 7-12. Gov. Doug Burgum is planning to present his Main Street Initiative at the Future Sloulin Field Redevelopment public meeting on May 8 and a Retail Summit, State of the City Address and WED/SBDC Awards Banquet will be held May 9. Click here to register!

Williston to celebrate National Economic Development Week May 7-12
Williston Mayor Howard Klug will present his second annual State of the City Address May 9 at 12 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel. Admission is free. Lunch will be served at 11:15 a.m.
Williston Economic Development - The city of Williston will celebrate National Economic Development Week May 7-12! The campaign will feature events, activities and seminars to raise awareness and interest in business and community development. The event will feature Gov. 1 Million Cups features NDFlagPoleGuy.com, Bras for a Cause
Jim Swartout, Cheryl Donovan and  Denise Gustafson were presenters at 1 Million Cups on April 4. The next meeting is May 2.

Williston Economic Development -  Jim Swartout, known locally as the NDFlagPoleGuy and Denise Gustafson, an organizer with Bras for a Cause, were presenters at 1 Million Cups Wednesday, April 4 in Williston. Swartout, who moved to Williston from Michigan, owns and operates a startup where he sells, installs and mends flags and flag poles. Denise Gustafson shared how the nonprofit group Bras for a Cause got its start in Williston. They have given more than $300,000 to men and women fighting cancer. This year they are challenging donors to contribute $100 each to raise $250,000 for the cause.

Bakken is busier Again

OilPrice.com - The Permian has been stealing headlines and analyst attention over the past year...but higher oil prices over the past few months have prompted drillers to grow production not only in the Permian, but also in the older and more developed plays such as the Bakken in North Dakota and Montana. The Bakken crude oil production has started to grow again and is expected to beat in the first half of 2018 its own production record of 1.23 million bpd from December 2014. Read More

Dickinson Press - Gov. Doug Burgum and Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford toured Dickinson on Wednesday. As part of the governor's Main Street ND Initiative, the Downtown Dickinson Association and city of Dickinson hosted Burgum and Sanford as they visited Dickinson State University, enjoyed a walking tour of the city's downtown and held a listening session at Dickinson Public Library. PSC to hold Public Hearing on $107 Million Pipeline Conversion April 10 in Watford City
McKenzie County Farmer - The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a public hearing in Watford City on Tuesday, April 10, regarding a $107 million project to convert an existing gathering pipeline system to a transmission pipeline system in McKenzie County. Hess North Dakota Pipelines, LLC, has submitted an application to convert approximately 19 miles of 10-inch and 16-inch crude oil gathering pipeline into a transmission line. For the full story, subscribe to the McKenzie County Farmer

Bismarck Tribune - North Dakota-based First International Bank & Trust closed Monday on the acquisition of leading electronic payments processor, InterceptEFT, and will rebrand it as Kotapay. New Boutique opens in Sidney
Sidney Herald - After moving to Sidney three years ago, Utah native Julie Batty decided it was time to open her own business. On March 13, she opened the doors to Abbi's Unique Boutique. "I've always owned a business, since I've been married," Batty said. While homesickness can get the best of us, Batty said, "I missed some of the stores in Utah. So I kind of brought a piece of home back to Montana." Read More
James Memorial Art Center to feature WSC Student; Artist Reception April 6
News Release - James Memorial Art Center is currently hosting two unique art shows, one of which is art from WSC Sophomore, Austin Proctor. Proctor will display his series entitled "Spirits," while Louisiana artist Hooshang Khorasani will showcase his abstract paintings for the month of April.   Comprised of over twenty paintings, Proctor drew inspiration from his interest in the occult, religion and spirituality. Parshall to hold Second School Bond Election May 15

Tioga Shopko to close in June

Tioga Tribune - Citing a lack of profitability, coupled with its proximity to another store, Shopko Manager of Public Relations Michelle Hansen last week confirmed to the Tribune that the Tioga Shopko will close this June. "Closing stores is, unfortunately, part of retail," Hansen said. Shopko opened in March 2015. The Tioga location was one of 20 openings held on the same day, after the Alco chain went bankrupt. To read the full story sign into our online edition.

04/25 ------ Williston Job Fair
More than 80 employers will be accepting resumes and interviewing applicants from 3-7 p.m. at the Raymond Family Community Center.

04/28 ------ Clean Up Williston Day
Volunteers are invited to pick up trash Saturday morning. Supplies will be available at Davidson Park. A free lunch for volunteers will begin at 11 a.m.

05/02 ------ 1 Million Cups Williston
Learn how to help new businesses thrive in Williston by attending the free meeting at Williston State College from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

05/08 ------ Sloulin Redevelopment Project - Williston Meeting
The public is invited to learn about the Master Plan for the project. The meeting will feature keynote Gov. Doug Burgum, City of Williston leaders and representatives from the project's key partnerships. The free program will run from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center.
