This Sunday's Message: On Humility
Sermon Text: Luke 14:1-11
The Road Less Traveled

Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Beginning September 10th, 10:00am

The first book we study will be Paul vs. James: What We've Been Missing in the Faith and Works Debate by Chris Bruno. Bruno brings a Biblical exploration of faith and works. He sets the matter in both its wider Biblical context at the same time as he makes clear its relevance and importance to faithful Christian living today.

The second book will be, The Moment of Lift, by Melinda Gates. She tells the stories of the inspiring people she's met through her work all over the world, digs into the data, and powerfully illustrates issues that need our attention-from child marriage and family planning to prevent poverty, to gender inequity in the workplace.

If you wish to join us, please order both of these books. They are available at Amazon, Cokesbury or Christianbooks.com. You do not need to read them before September 10th. Scholarships to pay for the books or for more information, please contact Sussie Jordan at 512-923-9268 or sussie@twojordans.com.

A Memory Grows

"A Memory Grows", founded by Rev. DeAndrea Dare is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as an outreach to grieving parents.  Our mission is to provide a space of healing and peace for parents who are grieving the death of their child. By bringing together those who have experienced a similar loss in a retreat setting, we honor and celebrate our children while making connections with others who truly understand our journey.

For several years, Aledo UMC has supported this loving organization by helping to provide meals for the 4 day retreats, 5-6 times a year. If you would like to help, please contact Janice Cole by calling 817-917-8123 or by email.

If you'd like more information about "A Memory Grows" check out the website here.

Are you taking advantage of electronic giving?
When we join the church, we pledge to support the life and ministry of the church with our financial gifts. That can get complicated on those weeks when we can't be here as the offering plate comes around. But through electronic giving, you remain faithful to your membership vows, even on those weeks when life takes you elsewhere. It's easy. It's safe. And it benefits both you and your church family. Setting it up is easy and only takes a few minutes. Contact Shari Birchell  to set up an automatic transfer from your checking account. Or go to Aledo UMC to use your credit or debit card.
