Dear Parents,

News from last week...

The week actually started over the weekend with our debate team participating in a tournament at which our team of Conor O'Brien, Max Dunn, and James Deerin (4-0) won 1st place overall in all teams, absolutely dominant. These are all 7th graders and are quite a force with which to be reckoned. I also want to recognize all of the other students who participated: Phoebe Sood, Chloe Irwin, Kate Ryan, Greyson Conley, John Russell, William Buckley, Bridget Hickey, Jack Jezior, and Abigail Dowd, Lauren Cook, George Koutrevelis, Elizabeth Madden, Alina Calix, and Griffin Pardo. Great effort by everyone and thank you to Mr. Schiller for his work in creating this opportunity for our children!

We rolled in to the week with the Monsignor Smyth Golf Tournament on Monday. We could not have asked for a more perfect day at Kenwood. Thank you to Javier Aguirre and Chris Connolly for being the primary organizers and thank you to all of the other volunteers and sponsors and all of the players. Congratulations to the winning Low Net winning team of: Billy Bray, Patrick Collins, Michael Brant and Matthew Brant, the Low Gross winning team of: Shaun Markley, Tim Hurt, Ryan Mason and Parker Williams and Bob Krantz for longest drive (barely) and John McHugh for closest to the pin (easily) . Another successful tournament!

Friday of last week afforded our staff the opportunity of a day of reflection with  Professor Tombasco during our faculty retreat and Monday, we joined other schools in the archdiocese for a day of professional development at Elizabeth Seton High School. It was a great way to close out the first quarter and prepare for the rest of the school year.

Please don't forget the Blessed Sacrament Parish Bazaar tomorrow!! Too many items to mention here but there will be activities for youngsters and wide variety of goods for shopping!

Faithfully,
Chris Kelly

The countdown to #GivingTuesday 2019 has begun!

Mark you calendars for December 3 to support local organizations including Blessed Sacrament School. This internationally recognized day of philanthropy kicks off the holiday and end of year giving season.

The  #UNselfie   campaign is the driving force behind our #GivingTuesday fundraising effort. It is powered by the BSS Class of 2020. An "unselfie" is a selfie that's not about you. It's about the unselfish act you are doing or promoting in the picture.

Every gift you make on December 3rd to Blessed Sacrament School directly impacts the students.

Every student receives an annual tuition discount of $1,000. A gift to Annual Fund on Giving Tuesday helps bridge the gap between tuition income and operating expenses.

On December 3rd every gift counts!

Walking with Purpose - a Bible study and small group discussion for women - will start its second study of the year this week. "Grounded in Hope, based on the book of Hebrews, will help you encounter Jesus in such a powerful, comforting, and stabilizing way that He can become your lifeline." Don't worry if you didn't make the first session, they are separate studies, and we would love to have you join us Tuesday mornings (8:45-10:30am in the Parish Center Lower Level) OR Tuesday evenings (7:30-9:30pm in the School Library).

At every Mass, we encounter Jesus in the sacrament of the Eucharist. We are sustained by so great a gift! Is God calling you to serve your fellow parishioners?

The parish is in need of more Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - both those who minister to the sick and those who serve at Mass. "Eucharistic Ministers" typically serve one or two weekends a month; you can choose the Mass times and dates which are most convenient for your family's schedule.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR:  Training sessions - for both new and veteran EMHCs are scheduled for Saturday morning, November 16, at 8:45 AM OR Wednesday evening, November 20, at 6:30 PM. Both will be held in the church and will last only about two hours.
