We know that this has been a challenging semester for everyone. When we envisioned how we wanted this fall to go, in no way did it look like this. But, here we are. It may still be too soon to feel it, but challenges like this semester will truly make our community stronger. Being able to turn what is perceived as a negative into a positive is a sign of strong leadership.
At a time where everyone's eyes are on us it is important that we use it to our advantage. We must work together as a community to show what makes sorority and fraternity special. To show them the values that we subscribe our lives to day in and day out. Use your social media for good and share the stories of your brothers and sisters. Work hard this holiday season to give back to a community that needs it so desperately. Lean on one another for support, and don't be afraid to hold each other accountable to your standards and expectations.
As an office, we are here for you. We are here to help guide, encourage, and support you. We are here to share your stories, advocate for you, and be your champion. We are also here to help get you back on the right path when you may wander off in the wrong direction. We are in this together. Because we truly believe that when fraternity and sorority is done right, it can be the most transformative experience on a college campus
.
With that said, let's get the conversation going on Twitter. Share why you are proud to be be Greek at OU. Tag us in your tweet @OhioU_SFL and use the #GreekPrOUd

Service & Philanthropic Opportunities
|
|
Looking for community service and philanthropic opportunities before the semester is over? We have a number of opportunities for you to get involved in before the semester comes to a close. Including three community-wide events, that we will provide details on below. Getting involved in these events not only fulfills the values of our organizations but helps restore the PR for our organizations. The more organizations and people that participate, the greater impact we will have.
November 6 & 12, 2019 | Sustainability at OU Football Games
Volunteers will be assigned to waste stations in an effort to help fans direct waste into the appropriate bins. Volunteers will be given credentials into the game and will be asked to stay for the duration of the game. This effort is hugely important as we work to reduce OU's waste footprint. If you are interested contact
Nicole Kirchner
.
(A max of 36 volunteers will be taken for each game).
November 26, 2019 | Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive
While a lot of us may have the luxury of going home for Thanksgiving break and enjoying a fully prepared warm meal, not everyone is as fortunate. It is important that we come together as a community and give back to the place that we call home for four+ years. The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life will be hosting the inaugural Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive and will be asking each sorority and fraternity to put together a Thanksgiving meal that can then be used by those OU students that will be staying on campus over Thanksgiving and those families who may not have the funds for all of the Thanksgiving fixings.

John LaPolla, Phi Gamma Delta
John LaPolla has been a consistent asset to the Sorority & Fraternity community at Ohio University. John is the Vice President of Judicial Affairs and is currently serving as the interim President for the Interfraternity Council and has been able to represent the community while serving on several committees. John has been instrumental in developing an inaugural event, Mentala, which is raising money for Mental Health America. John also received the Ross Griffin Greek Leadership Award at the Sorority & Fraternity Awards Banquet, which was greatly deserved. Good luck to John, as he continues preparations for Mentala!
