Preparing for Reconciliation
by Rev. Sonya Reichel

Drop-in: with Rev Sonya in the Reconciliation Room (Library)
  • March 29, Maundy Thursday, 3:00-5:30 p.m. or shortly after the service
  • March 30,  Good Friday, after the Noon service until 3:00 p.m.
  • By Appointment: call the office to schedule an appointment with Father Sean or Rev Sonya
If you are feeling nudged or nagged toward the sacrament of Reconciliation and need help preparing, then this is for you!

Most people feel anxious about this sacrament. That's okay. That's totally normal. Just don't let your anxiety stop you from experiencing the grace of this sacrament.

What you share in confession is completely confidential. The priest who hears your confession will not share it with anyone else, under any circumstance, nor will the priest bring it up with you outside of the confessional. If you are concerned about the priest having a negative opinion of you based on what you confess, please keep in mind that every priest is a sinner too. We all have our "stuff." Our God is a God of love and mercy. The sacrament of Reconciliation is one of God's gifts of love and mercy through the Church. It is healing, not shaming. It is safe. It is liberating.    (Click here to read more).

Easter Offering
hands/mission by Barbara Gillespy

Each year we divide our Easter offering between two missions.  This year the local  is Snowline Hospice Supportive Care is for people with respiratory disease, such as pulmonary fibrosis and COPD.  This program provides 24/7 nurse support and prevents unnecessary ER visits. 2 ).  Peer to Peer Grief Support for kids is a weekly program to help kids deal with grief and trauma .

The world mission 1/2 will go to John Ramey and his work with the Syrian refugees.

Education for Ministry
by Sharon Morrison

"But I don't want to go to become a Clergy Person.........."

It is surprising how often the above statement is made when someone first hears about the opportunity to join "Education For Ministry" small group at Faith on Monday evenings. (Please click here to read more).

Rector's Bible Study - Lessons from Afar
by Mary Higbee

Have you ever experienced being in another culture and coming away with some new insights as a result?  Seeing life through the lens of missionaries in South Sudan and learning about the human spirit and God's grace on the other side of the world is the topic of the next Rector's Bible Study beginning April 4 through May 16.  The class will use Mary Higbee's yet unpublished book, Lessons from Afar, and be led by Fr. Sean Cox and Mary.  (Please click here to read more).

Please email or call the office to reserve your copy of Lessons from Afar.

A couple of updates from your Treasurer...
by Lynne Thomas

We have several events happening that require tickets to be sold on Sunday mornings in the rotunda. PLEASE do not take the funds that you collect home or out of the building. Place the monies (checks and cash) in an envelope marked with the event and date of collection and hand them to the Vestry Person of the Day (VPOD) or Barbara or myself for "safe" keeping. This is per Diocesan audit regulations. The funds will then be counted and deposited on Monday mornings in the office with all of the plate collections. Envelopes are available in the storage cupboards in the conference room or someone in the office can get you one.

Also - once upon a time I mentioned that there is a mobile app for our ACS Church online giving and directory. Accessibility is available even if you do not give online - you can verify all of your personal giving history and look up folks in the directory. This directory is the most complete we have - as it is our main database in the office. This is in addition to the "Church Directory" app. Please see the attached document for instructions.

Sunday School
Sunday School by Monica Ness

Pre-K, KG / 1st-3rd Grade - Mark 11:1-11; 14:1-15:47
Jesus is betrayed multiple times by his friends and these events lead up to Jesus' death and burial.  We will be exploring emotions and the Passion narrative while reminding children that this is not the end of the story!

4th and 5th Grade -  Ruth 1:3-18
The 4th and 5th grade now have their own class and a curriculum designed just for them.  The theme of this week's lesson is that love is not selfish. Kids will enjoy active games and work towards memorizing a prayer (click to view the prayer.)

Jr. High
This week's middle school lesson is found in both John 12:12-16 and Mark 11: 1-11. The students will read both accounts and note the different details given in each. The students will explore the idea that Jesus did not meet the crowd's expectations of what he was to do and consider what their own expectations are of God and what they think God expects of them.

Children's Activity Cubby
by Monica Ness.

The Vision at Faith Church includes the words "children are welcome and families are supported."  We offer a full range of children's programs at our 10 a.m. service AND children are always welcome to be in the worship service.  Beginning on Easter Sunday, families who prefer to have their children in the service will find an activity cubby in the back of the sanctuary.  Please feel free to borrow items from the cubbies, use them during the service, and return them neatly to the cubby afterwards.

Thank you to our volunteers who are keeping the area neat and tidy each Sunday!
