Our Speaker: Georgia Hunter
Our 2019 Annual Dinner & Fundraiser speaker is New York Times Bestselling Author, Georgia Hunter.
We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter, is inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive—and to reunite—We Were the Lucky Ones is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds. An extraordinary, propulsive novel, We Were the Lucky Ones
demonstrates how in the face of the twentieth century’s darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive.
Georgia will share with us what inspired her to follow her family's story and pursue the research of her history. We are excited to welcome Georgia to our evening of "Inspired Stories".

We are grateful to Temple B'nai Israel - OKC and the Respect Diversity Foundation for partnering with us to bring this incredible speaker.

The 72nd Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
The 72nd annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be held at First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City (600 NW 13th St.) on November 26, beginning at 7:30 pm. This is the oldest continuous interfaith service in Oklahoma City, begun in 1947. The service will feature a combined choir from the sponsoring congregations, and prayers of gratitude will be offered by representatives from a variety of different faith traditions.

This year's keynote speaker is Rev. Glen Chebon Kernell, Executive Director at the Native American Comprehensive Plan of the United Methodist Church. The service will be followed by a reception in the First Unitarian Fellowship Hall. This free event is open to the public.

The Interfaith Thanksgiving Service is co-sponsored by Temple B'nai Israel, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ, and First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City.
The 2020 census will profoundly impact the future of our democracy and the health of our communities. Ensuring a complete count is a moral necessity. We must work together to ensure that the census promotes equality, not exclusion.

In past censuses, millions of children, people of color, low-income people and immigrants have gone uncounted -- perpetuating systemic racism, undermining political representation, and underfunding resources we all use, everything from hospitals to roads to schools for the next 10 years.

People of faith like you can help fix that by educating our friends, neighbors and faith communities about how to participate in the 2020 Census -- and why it’s so important.
