A Church for Every Generation
|
This week, your FPC pastors attended a half-day clergy convocation at Richmond Hill, an ecumenical urban retreat center in the city. The topic was
Seeking Common Ground: A Multi-Generational Conversation on Faith. The keynote speaker and three panelists who responded to her address were all members of the Millennial Generation, those born between between 1981 and 2000. We were reminded that Millennials are the most diverse generation, are digital natives, hold the largest share of the current work force, are the most educated but the least compensated, and that they have the least affiliation with religious institutions of any adult generation in our country...

Through November 24
What happens when our world falls apart? How do we press onward when our tightly-knit plans unravel into loose threads? What do we become when our identity—or the path we’re on—comes undone? What if all of this is not the end we fear it will be?

One of the Stewardship Committee’s goals this year is that more of our members will experience the joy of boundless generosity. We not only want to reach our financial goal; we also want to see an increase in the total number of members who make a pledge. Our records list
957 pledging units on our rolls. A pledging unit represents a family, whether that family is made up of one individual or multiple family members. Over the last several years we have averaged about
400 pledging units who make a pledge to support our ministries. To date,
271 individuals or families have made a pledge for 2020. Thank you to all who have responded so quickly.
If you plan to make a financial pledge for 2020 but have not done so, please make it as soon as possible at
fpcrichmond.org/boundless, or by calling Carolyn at the church office (358-2383). Thank you.

FPC Deacons Focus on Mental Health
During October, several national organizations recognize mental health awareness. The Deacons of FPC, in our desire to provide Compassionate Ministry to this congregation and community, have added a mental health education and awareness component to our work.
We know this is a serious issue that affects us all. One in five adults will experience mental illness this year. We want to help fight its stigma, while educating ourselves and the congregation.

Children's Sunday School
Four year olds through fifth graders can attend Sunday School from 9:45-10:45 am every week. All children in this age group should be dropped off in Room 205 to enjoy songs and a Bible lesson overview. Shepherds will then escort children to stations.
Attention Parents! Please complete our Child Information Form at
tinyurl.com/fpc-child. The information you share will help us provide a safe and comfortable environment for all our families at FPC.
