Preventing the Breeding of Mosquitoes

We are echoing San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg's statement about preventing the breeding of mosquitoes. As we have both Huebner and Zarzamora Creeks running through our city, it is doubly important for Leon Valley residents to make every effort to dump out any stagnant water from abandoned plant pots, Vases, pet water bowls, flowerpot saucers, buckets, pool covers, birdbaths, trash cans, rain barrels. wheelbarrows, old tires, buckets, shovels, and anything else that can hold  even the smallest amount of water and breed mosquitoes.
In addition, there are numerous yards overgrown due to the immense amount of rain we received. Please cut your grass as soon as you can to also prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. The City will be aggressively spraying for mosquitoes this week and next to reduce the occurrence, but the spray won't reach into all areas, so we need everyone's assistance in this endeavor. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

ON IT

The City of Leon Valley is bringing new life and enforcement to the ON IT  program. All City Departments are teaming together to bring more attention and compliance to your neighborhood issues and concerns. The intention of the   ON IT  program is to have a direct means of reporting your community concerns regarding streets, sidewalks, abandoned homes, loose or dead animal reports, permitting concerns, noise or other neighborhood nuisances and much more.

The goal is to ensure that City service requests and information is handled, as promptly as possible, with a high level of customer service. Report it and an  ON IT team member will respond as quickly as possible.

Helpful Safety Tips
Why everyone should have their own File of Life:

Medical emergencies can happen anytime. When they do, there is confusion, panic and urgency. Paramedics arrive on the scene with no information about the person in need. Seco nds count - they can make the difference between life and death. Does the patient have prior medical conditions? Allergies? What medications are they taking? Who do they want us to call? How do we contact their family or friends? File of Life puts these answers at their fingertips. It allows first responders to immediately begin the best possible treatment, notify loved ones, and pass this vital data on to awaiting physicians at the emergency room. File of Life has already saved thousands of lives. It is an absolute asset to emergency preparedness, and peace of mind, for every household and community across the nation. Magnetic to place on your refrigerator. Available at the Leon Valley Fire Department while supplies last.
