Red Tape Red Carpet Task Force Launches Progress Reporting Dashboard
The RTRC reporting dashboard is live! This webpage makes it easy to follow the City’s progress on implementing the 22 recommendations that Council unanimously approved in early September. The dashboard will be updated regularly so residents and businesses are able to stay informed and provide feedback along the way.

What is the Red Tape Red Carpet Task Force (RTRC)?
The RTRC is an initiative announced by Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward at the State of the City in January 2019. Its purpose is to use a series of events and feedback options to identify the challenges and obstacles facing growth and relocation of businesses in Burlington, and develop actionable solutions to keep Burlington Open for Business.

Ontario #1 in North America for New Jobs Created from Incoming Foreign Direct Investment
The Global Location Trends 2019 report from IBM highlights Ontario as the top destination region in terms of jobs created based on incoming foreign direct investment (FDI). The report is unique in that it tracks decisions made at the project level and uses job creation data as a key indicator of the local economic impact of foreign direct investment, rather than capital investment figures. Burlington Economic Development Sponsors Equation Angels Launch Event
|
|
Burlington Economic Development supported TechPlace co-location partner Angel One Investor Network during their Equation Angels launch event earlier this month. This event announced and celebrated the new alliance between three successful angel networks, Angel One Network, Golden Triangle Angel Network and Southwestern Ontario Angel Group, into Equation Angels. This new alliance means that entrepreneurs can now pitch their businesses to 100 plus angels across Southwestern Ontario all at once instead of approaching multiple groups individually. Committed to connecting entrepreneurs with investors to grow and scale their companies, Equation Angels provides streamlined services to get startups faster access to capital. one of five
recipients of the Women Founders Fund, announced last week at the
2019 Startup Canada Awards at MaRS Discovery District
. The fund provides micro-grants to women-led companies in Canada to help them start and grow their businesses while accelerating gender parity.
