HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and the Gillespie Forum will present
"Coming to America: Who Should We Welcome, What Should We Do?"
-- a National Issues Forum -- on Sunday, April 15, 2018. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Education Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home.
This is a free public event but registration is required.
For centuries, a steady influx of people from other countries has helped make the United States a nation comprised of immigrants. Today, many people are asking questions about the country's immigration policies -- important questions that we need to consider together. Program moderators will encourage attendees to discuss America's immigration policies in a roundtable discussion format.
National Issues Forums (NIF) is a nonpartisan, nationwide network of locally sponsored public forums for the consideration of public policy issues. It is rooted in the simple notion that people need to come together to reason and talk -- to deliberate about common problems. These forums, organized by a variety of organizations, groups, and individuals, offer citizens the opportunity to join together to deliberate, to make choices with others about ways to approach difficult issues and to work toward creating reasoned public judgment. Forums range from small or large group gatherings similar to town hall meetings, to study circles held in public places or in people's homes on an ongoing basis. For more information about NIF visit

Please contact Cliff Laube at (845) 486-7745 with questions about the event.
The Gillespie Forum was founded in 1988. Its mission is to inform and engage the community by presenting viewpoints, programs and speakers on significant issues. The Forum cooperates with local colleges to host events, lectures and film screenings on diverse topics ranging from the crisis in contemporary media to sustainability, from the Holocaust to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
