Dear Friends

As I write my last piece for Constant Contact, Busy Hands are outside my office chatting, sewing, ironing and pinning various items getting them ready to sell at the Christmas Boutique. These women do such wonderful work behind the scenes. This group reminds me how much I will miss the many friends I have made and the comfortable friendships that I have formed over the past several years here at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Thank you one and all for welcoming me  so warmly over 8 years ago. Right from the first I was embraced as being part of this church family. We have laughed and cried together and I have cherished our time together. My faith has grown and strengthened in your midst and hopefully, I have helped your faith grow as well.

Looking ahead, I see nothing but wide open possibilities for this community of faith. You have a solid foundation built on your faith in Jesus Christ. More and more I have sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit working in your midst. The expression that comes to mind is, "You ain't seen nothing yet!" and truly I believe, that, with God leading you, that is what is ahead for Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Blessings,

Pastor Linda

IHN This Week
IHN Trailer

Interfaith Hospitality Network will be here for the week starting on Sunday, September 23.  Th IHN signup sheet is now posted in the Narthex.

We are in need of hosts from 7 to 9:00 p.m. on one evening, as well as
one more couple to stay overnight as chaperones.

Last year our church hosted forty-one guests, with twenty-one children and twenty adults throughout the year.   The need for services to help shelter homeless families continues. Even making a dinner for a night allows you to put your faith into action.

Please stop by the sign-up sheets in the Narthex  and let us know where you can help. Thank you!
Responding to Hurricane Florence

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) urges your support for those affected by Hurricane Florence. PDA is delivering immediate aid to those impacted by Hurricane Florence on the eastern seaboard of the United States. Initial assessments suggest catastrophic destruction, but the full scope of the damage will not be known for many months.

The storm's path is cutting across areas still recovering from Hurricane Matthew (2016). While these winds and waters have meant loss and destruction, the work of PDA might become, as the Psalmist says, "a river whose streams make glad the city of God."

PDA is deploying teams to affected presbyteries to meet with Presbyterian and community leadership to assist in coordinating relief efforts and mucking out homes and churches. After initial needs are addressed, PDA will remain-providing spiritual emotional care and Long Term Recovery to address unmet needs of those impacted.  Through your prayerful gifts we draw hope out of the chaos.

The Board of Deacons has generously responded by sending a donation last week to PDA.    To make a donation look for the bulletin insert this Sunday.  Gifts can be sent into the church marked "PDA", or made online, by phone at (800) 872-3283, or by check, which can be mailed to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.

Jersey Shore Remembers - Paying it Forward With Cleanup Supplies

Attention all Presbyterian Women!  On the fourth  Wednesday  of this month, September 26th, we will meet at Frankie's on Rt. 35 N, Pt. Pleasant, at 6:30 p.m.  for our "dine around."

We would love to have all of our women and their friends join us for good fellowship and good food, but we need a phone call to Maggie at 732-295-0908, or Lynn at 732-920-7133, in order to call ahead to reserve space for our group.  (Last time we had to change location at the last minute because we had no idea how many would be there. So if you don't remember those numbers you can call the church in a pinch!) See you all on the fourth Wednesday!!

Financial Update
Financial News

Tithes and offerings recieved during the month of August amounted to $14,575.  Our expenses last month came to $23,007.  Let's not wait for someone else to do what needs to be done was the Sunday School theme for last Sunday.  Let us apply that to our financial support of our wonderful church.
This Week at Point Beach Prep

Every day we come together for circle time to discuss the weather, what day it is, and our letter of the week. We salute the flag and assign a daily job to each student. We have begun working on our alphabet and this week we learned letter A. We learned there are capital letters and lower case letters plus the sound that A makes. We sang ABC songs.

Our Nursery met the animal puppet, Mr. Alligator. They read Animal Boogie, All the Awake Animals, and Airplanes. Some of their activities were apple printing, marching like ants, making an ant, making an alligator, and flying airplanes. The Dramatic Play area was set up as an airplane, complete with pilot's hat.

Our Pre-K met our letter doll Ms. A, who has allergies and says a-choo! They learned their first sight word, a. They learned sign language for letter a and the word awesome. They read The Letter A Book, The Apple Pie Tree, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and Apples Here. They learned all about apples and did a taste test to pick their favorite- red, green or yellow. What an awesome week we had!
