Legislative Update
Success for Children's Vision at the State House
An amendment filed by Representative Christine Barber, "to establish a special commission to study and report on childhood vision and eye health in the Commonwealth" has been included in the FY2018 House Ways and Means Budget.  This is a significant step forward for the Children's Vision Massachusetts Coalition and others working to improve vision health outcomes for children statewide.  Thank you to Representative Barber and all who continue to advocate on behalf of the Coalition's mission.

MassHealth Care Plus Vision Benefits Protected
Prevent Blindness Northeast Region joined other advocates in responding to proposed cuts to current benefits for eyeglasses and contact lenses in the Governor's FY 2018 budget.  These services were utilized by 41,000 MassHealth Care Plus members during the past year.  Advocacy efforts were successful in that the House Ways and Means Budget maintains the same level of vision services that were in effect in fiscal year 2017 for members enrolled in the Care Plus Program.
