As we watch the rain (and mosquitoes) continue, teachers are becoming very creative with inside recess. Walking into classrooms, it is wonderful to see children at play. Every bit of indoor "real estate" is being used. In this digital world, where we often see students in solitary pursuits when they are left to their own devices, it is a blessing to see students playing together in a social environment. The laughter and joy that comes from it is priceless.
During prayer, students were asked to think about the many gifts their mothers have given them. As children, they are not yet equipped to truly appreciate the depth of a mother's love. As we contemplate that love, we can begin to appreciate the love that our Blessed Mother has for us. Throughout the ages, she has given us gifts through the saints. Three of those gifts have been cause for reflection at OLQP: the Rosary, the Miraculous Medal, and the Brown Scapular. These sacramentals are visible signs of Blessed Mother's love and care for each of her children. Each sacramental has prayers attached that draw us into the presence of God and the life of Christ. The shower of graces and blessings that are received through these prayers and devotions will bear fruit in due season.
