Stewardship 2019 Kicks off at Noel
|
Dear Noel Family Members,
Do you know your place in the story of Noel? Some of us have been a part of this wonderful church for decades. Three new members joined Noel on September 16th! In Jesus' 'Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard', likely written during the first decades of the Early Church, some were already boasting about their long-time membership status! Matthew reminded them that it really doesn't matter
when
we began working in the Lord's vineyard, just that we started! If you are a member of Noel, then you are already 'rooted and grounded' here, and no doubt have found Christ's love to be deep and fulfilling.
Over the next few weeks, we will be invited to consider again how much this great Church Family means to us. We have been grafted into the Family Tree that is Noel Memorial. Ephesians 1:5 says it this way:
"God was kind and decided that Christ would choose us to be God's own adopted children."
In grateful response to God's goodness and generosity toward us, we have the privilege of sharing a portion of our material gifts in Christ's mission today. A mailing has gone out this week inviting you and your household to determine what you will give to advance Noel's mission for 2019.
You can certainly turn in your pledge card in advance of
Generosity Sunday, which is October 14th
. But we have some fun things planned for all three Sundays that you'll not want to miss.
Our Stewardship Team is praying and planning for these three weeks to be a time to showcase the deep roots and many connections that make up the Noel Family Tree. Come and share your place in the story with your sisters and brothers in Christ!

Add Your Place in the Story to Noel's Tree
A 'leaf' was included in this week's letter, and more are available around the church. The 'leaf' will be a part of a visual on the Gallery Wall, that will be on display throughout this Stewardship focus.
We are asking each person to write their name and the date they became a part of the Noel Story on a leaf and attach it to the tree. The vision of a full tree will remind us all of the richness of Noel's entire story!
From September 30 through October 14, you will be invited to celebrate with your fellow Noel friends both the deep roots and 'green shoots' of growth God has provided.

This will be a family-friendly and creative service opportunity for those interested in coming out for a couple of hours to paint the newly designed food pantry logo onto one of the pantry walls. We'd love to have your help!

Beginning
Sunday, September 30,
with a Sunday Concert at
4pm,
followed by the study,
Monday-Wednesday, October 1-3, 9:30 - noon
in Anderson Gym, Broadmoor UMC, 3715 Youree Dr. Cost is $45 (Includes 3 lunches). The study begins with a social time followed by gospel storytelling using music, humor and imagination to experience the stories of Jesus and our own lives in very new and different ways. We will conclude with a light lunch.

Grief Support Group
Wednesdays, October 10 - November 14 at 10am in the Library. Led by Rev. Mimi McDowell. A place for those who have experienced the death of someone they love. Whether the loss is recent or not, there are often unresolved feelings of pain, anger, guilt, confusion, etc. This six-week group is a safe place to share with others who share some of the same issues and understand the variety of emotions resulting from such a loss.

Noel Community Arts Program, which sponsored the new Noel Food Pantry Logo Contest, is happy to announce that they have picked a winner! And you can help paint it! That's right, YOU! Come to this month's Mission Saturday at Noel on September 29, and be a part of history! Anyone can join in!

Due to national policy changes of the American Red Cross, Noel's Food Pantry will no longer provide startup kits to fire victims in Northwest Louisiana.
Thank you to so many Noel members who have provided cleaning supplies, personal items, linens, towels, and various kitchen items. All of those items helped so many hurting families in their time of need.
