Philip Gulley Lecture & Workshop | Friday, November 15 from 7:00-8:30 pm and Saturday, November 16 from 9:00-11:00 am
Asbury is very excited to host Quaker pastor, writer, and speaker Philip Gulley for two special upcoming events. The first, on Friday, November 15, will be a lecture on his most recent book, "Unlearning God: How Unbelieving Helped Me Believe."  The second is a workshop on Saturday morning, November 16, entitled "Spiritual Aliveness." Gulley takes psychologist Abraham Maslow's characteristics of happy, healthy people and looks at these traits through a spiritual lens. Everyone is welcome to attend...invite your friends!  Please RSVP for the morning workshop by contacting the church office, so we ensure that we set up enough seating.

EncoreKC! Fall Choral Concert | Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 pm

Sing with the Chancel Choir in our Annual Christmas Program!
Come sing with the Chancel Choir in our annual Christmas music program on December 15 at both Sunday services.  No auditions, and only three rehearsals!  Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays Nov 20 (7-8 pm), Dec 4 (7-8 pm) and Dec 11 (6:30-8 pm) in the MSR.  Email Lindsey Lang at [email protected] if you have any questions.  We'd love to have you join us!
 
Operation Santa Claus | November 17 - December 1
Asbury's Christmas project this year will be in support of Della Lamb's Operation Santa Claus.  This program provides over 1000 low income Kansas City families with all items needed for a complete Christmas holiday experience.  Gift items include:
Children:  Infant to 12 years - large and small toys (no battery operated, no violence related), dolls (Black, Asian, Hispanic), books.  Teens: football, soccer balls, etc., books, jewelry, gloves, hat, scarves.  Adult Female: 1 wrapped gift consisting of 1 each: gloves, hat, pocket calendar.  Labeled w/ size.  Addressed: To Mom From Santa.  Adult Male: 1 wrapped gift consisting of 1 each: gloves, hat, socks.  Labeled w/ size.  Addressed: To Dad From Santa.  Please return your donations to the Welcome Center no later December 1st.  Cash donations accepted too.   Make checks payable to Asbury UMC, with Operation Santa Claus in the memo line.  For more information, contact Dan Clevenger at [email protected]. 
 
Annual Giving Tree | November 17 - December 1 
Asbury UMW and the Missions Team are setting up the annual Giving Tree in the Welcome Center from November 17-December 1.  We are collecting NEW hats, underwear, gloves, and socks for adults and children.  Donated items will be delivered to the Cross-Lines Christmas Store and the Johnson County Christmas Bureau.  Thanks so much for your help!
 
UMW Christmas Potluck Lunch and Nativity Show & Tell | Thursday, December 5 at 11:30 am in Hager Hall
ALL are invited to the UMW Christmas Potluck Lunch and Nativity Show & Tell on Thursday, December 5 at 11:30 am in Hager Hall.  Bring your cherished Christmas Nativity or Manger Scene for show & tell--we will have tables available for you to display your nativity and ask that you provide a short paragraph sharing the significance of your treasured item.  Dessert will be provided, but guests are asked to bring a main or side dish to share.  Please RSVP to a UMW Circle or to the church office at 913.432.5573.  Childcare is available upon request.
 
Memorial Ga rden News
The upkeep for the garden still needs helpers as well as donations of $25 given in celebration of or memory of your loved ones. While many donations are given monthly, donations can be made in any amount or increment. You can sign up on the poster near the Memorial Garden entrance. Children's Ministry
WOW! Choir
WOW! Choir, Asbury's children's choir for K-5th grade, rehearses every Sunday during the school year from 9:30-10:00 am in the children's Sunday school wing (3rd floor east).  During that time, your singer will participate in vocal warm-ups, learn a variety of performance and rehearsal songs, and participate in various movement and music theory activities.  It's like a free private group lesson every week!  See you Sunday!

Toddler Tales 10-10:30 am in the Nursery  
All three year-olds and non Pre-K four year-olds are invited to join Ms. Gloria at 10 am for a fun, hands-on lesson on a kid-friendly Bible story! 
   
Elementary in the Children's Wing
All Pre-K through 5th grade students are invited to the children's wing (3rd floor east) to learn about "Loving God and Loving Neighbor."  We'll sing and dance, watch a video, play games, and more!
