R & D Review
by Dan Heffernan
R & D activity in 2018 has been lively, to say the least. Here is an update.
Integration with Salesforce and Dynamics:
We recently tightened the integration between Advantage and these applications. Many of our prospects and clients use one of these CRM applications to manage
sales leads and want a seamless integration between said package and Advantage.
For example, a user in Salesforce or Dynamics might want to enter a quote and have that result in a quote in Advantage. At the same time, they may wish to view information in Salesforce or Dynamics about orders taken or payments made in Advantage. They may also wish to view information managed in Advantage which is not in the CRM application, such as information about an existing subscription agreement.
Current technology allows a user in one application to see information in another without really knowing (or caring) where the information is stored. This is exactly the kind of integration we've built with Salesforce and Dynamics.

Welcome New Employee: Joshua Pendleton
by Cindy Twiss
We a
re pleased to welcome
Joshua Pendleton
,
the newest member of
the Product Development group led by Toby Hartman
. Josh is not exactly a newcomer to AdvantageCS, however, as he was a summer intern in 2016 on the team led by
John Moore
.
Josh recently graduated from the University of Michigan
where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science (with a minor in physics) from the school of engineering. Josh followed a family tradition, as both his parents attended the U of M. Younger brother Luke is currently a junior there, studying--guess what?--computer science and was also an intern at AdvantageCS this past summer.

Welcome New Employee: Curt Silverthorn
by Cindy Twiss
We are pleased to welcome
Curt Silverthorn, the newest member of the Product Development group led by
Paul Sauter
.
A recent graduate of the University of Michigan, Curt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the school of engineering. Curt intended to major in mechanical engineering, but when he took his first computer programming class, he was hooked. One aspect of programming he enjoys is putting together small pieces into a larger whole.

Creating Custom Report Output---the Easy Way
by Paul DesRosiers
With the 2018.7 release of Advantage comes an improved way to create custom report output, based on your select criteria. This functionality
is available at the browser.
One of the best features of the browser-based approach is the ability to see real-time results. You can both see the results and export them to a CSV or PDF file. In addition, you can run this from within Advantage, incorporating the report into a jobstream or scheduling it to run on a regular basis.

Summer Fun at Hudson Mills Metropark
Earlier this month, we held our annual summer gathering. These events, which vary from year to year, provide an opportunity for AdvantageCS employees and their families to enjoy each other's company, good food, and warm weather (provided the Michigan weather complies).
This year's event, a summer picnic, was held at Hudson Mills Metropark in the neighboring town of Dexter, Michigan (a 30-minute drive from AdvantageCS headquarters). Nearly 100 attendees of all ages partook of a catered lunch under the hot August sun. Many played lawn games like cornhole, volleyball, and the lesser-known spikeball. While the skies seemed threatening at times, the rain held off and all had a wonderful time. Take a look at some of the photos.

AdvantageCS Supports the Community With Fundraiser for Hope Clinic
L
ast month, we held our 8th annual fundraiser for
Hope Clinic
, a local organization dedicated to providing compassionate and practical help to those in need. With multiple AdvantageCS employees being regular contributors and volunteers, we have a deep relationship with the organization. But it goes beyond that: Hope Clinic was
founded
by our Vice President & Chief Product Manager, Dan Heffernan's, father back in 1982.
Thirty-six years later, Hope Clinic is much more than a walk-in medical clinic; they also operate a dental clinic and run food programs, among other health & social services, to thousands of people across southeastern Michigan. All services are completely free.
